Found October 08, 2013 on DraftSeason:
To make room for new quarterback the Vikings have released quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson. This doesn’t come as a shocker as he was clearly the odd-man out int he current quarterback situation. McLeod Bethel-Thompson has always intrigued fans with his ability and big arm. The former Sacremento St. quarterback was the Vikings 3rd string quarterback in 2012 but has yet to see a regular season snap. If and when he clears waivers look for the Vikings to bring him back as he is practice squad eligible. The coaching staff has always seemed to have s soft spot for the qb and see some potential. Freeman gets to work in Minnesota

Let the crash course begin. Josh Freeman practiced for the first time with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, three days after he was signed to eventually be their starting quarterback. With the Vikings sitting at a precarious 1-3 heading into a game against Carolina on Sunday, Freeman is trying to absorb a brand new offense and get on the same page with a new set of teammates...

Brian Robison reels in four-year extension from Vikings

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Brian Robison has made himself a home in Minnesota and a career with the Minnesota Vikings. When the opportunity arose to stay in Minnesota, Robison had his representation work out a deal to stay with the Vikings so he could spend his entire career with one team. The ability to do a bit of fishing in the state's 10,000 lakes didn't hurt either. "...

Vikings made no promises to new QB Josh Freeman

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Josh Freeman said he followed his heart. Rick Spielman ignored his. After a tumultuous end with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Josh Freeman chose to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, eschewing offers from several other teams because he said he felt comfortable about the situation and opportunity with Minnesota. Spielman jumped on the chance to add Freeman, bringing...

The Story: Josh Freeman signs with the Minnesota Vikngs

The long and entertaining story of Josh Freeman is moving to Minnesota, after the disgraced quarterback struck a one-year deal worth three million dollars with the Vikings. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Freeman with the 17th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft, after a stellar three-year career at Kansas State University.Head coach Raheem Morris handed the 6'6" quarterback...

Josh Freeman is in Minnesota now

I read a post at Grantland when Josh Freeman was benched that painted the picture of a quarterback that was teeming with talent, but was so misused and was neglected the opportunity to develop that his career has fallen apart. Bill Barnwell brought up some interesting points and had good observations on Freeman’s career, that I think all Vikings fans should check out. I’ll boil...

Vikings agree to terms with former Bucs QB Josh Freeman

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's starting quarterback this week will be Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder, not Josh Freeman. Beyond Sunday, there's no guarantee. The Vikings were finalizing Freeman's contract Monday. He didn't make it in time for practice but was scheduled to arrive later in the day. Coach Leslie Frazier said there's not enough time for...

Josh Freeman will be a better Viking than Christian Ponder

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Josh Freeman won’t start at quarterback this Sunday when the Carolina Panthers travel to Minnesota. The 25-year-old Freeman signed with Minnesota three days after getting clipped by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 3. Freeman struggled mightily this season over three games as a Buc and completed an abysmal 45.7 percent of his 94 attempts...

Minnesota Vikings and Josh Freeman: two trainwrecks unite

Josh Freeman or Christian Ponder? Hmm, that’s tough. Christian Ponder or Josh Freeman? Sounds like a sink-or-sink opportunity for the Minnesota Vikings. And that’s ironic because Vikings are known for their prowess in shipping. Josh Freeman has agreed to one-year deal worth $3M with the Vikings, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1. So what happens now? Has anyone seen...

Vikings McLeod Bethel-Thompson Claimed by 49ers

When the Vikings released McLeod Bethel-Thompson to sign Josh Freeman we all knew there was a chance he would get claimed on waivers. Well, that is exactly what happened. The San Francisco 49ers claimed the 25 year old quarterback. McLeod Bethel-Thompson spent some time back in 2011 with the 49ers so there is familiarity there. To make room for the quarterback the 49ers released...

Bye week not always a blessing

Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington all had byes in Week-5. The four teams that didn't play this weekend have a combined 2-14 record, but the week off may have been just what the doctor ordered and not only for the obvious reasons. Yes, Minnesota took the weekend to evaluate their quarterback play and then make a run for Josh Freeman -- who they successfully signed...

Freeman picks Vikings as destination for his reclamation

The Minnesota Vikings appeared to further cut the cord with third-year QB Christian Ponder Sunday night when it was announced that they signed Tampa Bay castoff Josh Freeman. Reports suggest that Freeman signed a one-year deal for around $3 million. Ponder’s future already seemed in question when the 0-3 Vikings turned to Matt Cassel and emerged from London with a win that kept...

Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings: 2013 Week 6 NFL Pick

Carolina Panthers (1-3) at Minnesota Vikings (1-3) I can’t quit the Panthers. They’re clearly not going 12-4 like I thought they would at the start of the season. I can admit that because it’s clearly wrong and because I was right about pretty much everything else. But they’re not as bad as they’ve looked. They could easily be 3-1 right now. They are outscoring opponents...

Economics, chemistry paramount with the QBs

Christian Ponder earns the least of the top three QBs on the roster, but he is the only one with a contract into 2014 with Matt Cassel’s option to opt out. The economics and statements around the Vikings’ quarterback position are upside down right now, and that’s more revealing with the ranking of salaries on the roster.

Vikings sign Robison to four-year extension

The Vikings got one of their pending free agents on the defensive line sewed up, signing Brian Robison to a four-year extension.
