Jamarca Sanford is coming off of his best season, but he faces a stiff challenge from Mistral Raymond who is healthy in 2013 and second-year player Robert Blanton. Sanford was selected as the 231st overall pick in the 7th round by the Vikings in the 2009 NFL Draft. Sanford re-signed with the Vikings on a two-year, $5 million dollar contract in the 2013 offseason. He spent his first two years playing on special teams before being named the starting strong safety in 2011. Sanford will have to fight off Raymond who was the initial starter in 2011, but injuries have prevented him from challenging Sanford. The competition doesn’t bother Sanford; however, he still is keeping an eye on the situation. "I still have to worry about it," Sanford said. "It's still a competition. But I don't look at the past; all I can do is look to the future," Sanford said, via Andrew Krammer of 1500 ESPN. Krammer writes: ‘Sanford is one of 11 free agents this offseason the Vikings resigned when he added two years to his deal in March after his best campaign in 2012, which included a team-high four forced fumbles and another six quarterback pressures -- the most in the secondary.’
