Adrian Peterson is dealing with an abdominal injury, but should be ready to help the Minnesota Vikings in their bid to earn a playoff spot with a victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Peterson leads the NFL with 1,898 yards and is 207 yards away from Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. The star running back sat out the final minutes of Sunday's 23-6 win at Houston, with coach Leslie Frazier calling it a precautionary measure.
Peterson ran for 86 yards against the Texans, ending his streak of eight 100-yard games.
The Vikings (9-6) would clinch a postseason berth with a win over the NFC North champion Packers (11-4).

Toronto Star Columnist Cathal Kelly takes a misguided shot at Adrian Peterson as the Vikings attempt to win their way into the playoffs
With an article that feels like it was written before the game had kicked off Kelly, a sports columnist for the Toronto Star issued a scathing column with the basic premise that the Vikings were failing this season because they were relying too heavily on Adrian Peterson. The piece fails to take into account where the Vikings would be without Peterson this season (certainly not facing...

Vikings vying for playoffs with sore Peterson

That was then.

Upset at the hands of the Vikings leaves the Texans with something to ‘Ponder’
It wasn’t supposed to be this way for the Houston Texans.
The team with the best record in the AFC got their hats handed to them in New England, and now they have to deal with the humiliation of getting upset by the Vikings, who not many gave a chance to win this game.
The Vikings keep their playoff hopes, while the Texans were kept from clinching home-field advantage throughout...
Adrian Peterson Worthy of MVP? All Day
Man, he’s fast.
Very.
At the moment all eyes are on Adrian Peterson, the NFL’s most dynamic running back. Adrian Peterson Chasing Greater Feats Than Eric Dickerson’s Record As He Dominates NFL Defenses
Eric Dickerson was a great running back. But even if he still holds the single-season rushing record after this Sunday, when Adrian Peterson and his surgically repaired knee will be done churning out of the Minnesota backfield, chances are that Peterson will have done something Dickerson could have never touched.
Peterson is about to change the way the NFL plays offense.

Following up on the Sunday Spotlight
A couple days ago I wrote a spot addressing the five most important players to keep an eye on this Sunday: Peterson, Romo, Roethlisberger, the Giants d-line, and Russell Wilson. Here’s how it all played out.
