A change in the injured reserve rule will aid a fallen Chargers receiver this year.

Prior to the rule change, when an NFL team placed a player on the Injured Reserve, they were unable to play for the entire year. Now, the new rule states that if a player has sustained an injury, he can return to the team and fully participate before week eight of the regular season. However, he must be classified with the 'designated to return' injured reserve tag and each team gets one tag. Which will mean teams must essentially 'guess' which player will be ready by that time.

After sustaining a broken ankle in the second week of preseason action against the Dallas Cowboys, wide receiver Vincent Brown will be receiving the 'designated to return' tag. Brown is estimated to return at around week seven to eight depending on his recovery process.

Great news for the Chargers as Brown was beginning to show signs of being a presence in the offense. He was third in receving in preseason despite missing two of the four games.

Bolt fans will look forward to having Brown back on the team and wish him a speedy recovery.
