Found May 22, 2012 on Down and Distance:
Wade Phillips may single-handedly put to rest the notion that a lot of NFL teams partake in bounty programs, and simply just do not get caught. The Houston Texans’ defensive coordinator said he could not believe what he was hearing when he listened to the audio recording of Williams’ pre-game speech, telling his players to target and hurt specific members of the San Francisco 49ers. Via Sports Radio 610 (Houston): “It made me sick. I just don’t believe in that. It’s something completely against what I believe in. I knew it wasn’t right certainly and I think that’s where you go. I’ve been around the NFL for 36 years. We’ve never talked about that and hurting another player.” I for one don’t personally believe that many NFL teams use a bounty program, and I highly doubt many coordinators target specific players’ body parts. This is just another bombshell in the saga of the bounty program that will apparently never die. Source: NBC Sports
