TE Andrew Quarless will probably start the year on the PUP list. The first NFL roster cut-down of the season is fast approaching. On Monday, August 27th, the Green Bay Packers will need to have trimmed their roster down to 75 players from their current total of 90. Not only do Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson need to consider the skill of each player, but they also have to take into account the remaining depth they’ll have to work with for the remainder of the preseason. This being the case, the first roster cut-down can be a good time to declare some of the Injured Reserve (IR) or Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) players for the start of the season. As a reminder, only players who did not practice at all during training camp are eligible for the PUP. They remain on the list for the first six weeks of regular season, after which they have a three-week window to return to pract...

Harrell still has plenty of Packers' support

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- If Aaron Rodgers is forced to miss any games this season due to injury, clearly the Green Bay Packers would not be the same team no matter who the backup quarterback is. After all, Rodgers is the NFL's Most Valuable Player and is the biggest reason why the Packers led the league in scoring last season. But in recent years, Green Bay was in reliable hands in...

Cedric Benson is “probable” week 1 starter for Packers

After going with a youth movement at running back for the entire offseason, the Packers caved earlier this month and signed veteran running back Cedric Benson after injury prone youngster James Starks suffered a turf toe injury, on top of a rough Training Camp and preseason, that threatened his availability for the regular season. As could be expected, the Packers are likely to start...

Benson looks solid in return to Cincinnati

The Green Bay Packers are no longer winless this preseason. CINCINNATI (AP) -- Aaron Rodgers ran everywhere, including the end zone. Twice.
