As the dust settles on the blockbuster Darrelle Revis trade, it's clear the All-Pro cornerback chased every penny of his historic $96 million contract with the Bucs.

Color Warren Sapp unsurprised.

The former Buccaneer and current NFL Network analyst slammed Revis for possessing a "selfish," me-first mentality, something Sapp was rarely privy to in Tampa.

“He's selfish and he's never been a team player,'' Sapp told the Tampa Tribune. “We didn't win the championship that way. Derrick Brooks and I always cared more about the team than ourselves.''

Sapp's comments are a stark departure from other ex-Bucs who gave their opinions on the matter. John Lynch called Revis a "game-changer," while Brian Kelly and Raheem Morris lauded him as the league's best corner.

Given the past, though, it's hard to argue with Sapp's take. Revis held out for more money on three different occasions in New York, even becoming the central storyline on HBO's "Hard Knocks" in 2010.

Although arguably the NFL's best corner since Deion Sanders, Revis seemingly always has his finances on the front burner. Jets GM John Idzik alluded to as much during a conference call following the trade.

"It became quite evident, to us, there was a substantial difference with Darrelle's view of his value and ours,"Idzik said.

That being said, Revis, despite receiving zero guaranteed cash, is now the highest-paid defender in history. Whether that's enough to satiate his bank account will be proven this upcoming season.
