When the Bears selected Kyle Long it was a bit of a surprise.  However, the biggest need in Chicago for several years has been the offensive line.  Is this draft enough to take the Bears to the next level? 1.20 Kyle Long. He is physically gifted and has the obvious blood lines but is among the least experienced players in the draft. The limited play time could mean that he's coachable and has a lot of miles left but it could also mean that he's a long ways from contributing. In watching his tape I see a little bit too much shoulder contact and too little punch with his hands. Once NFL D-linemen get into a guards chest plate they can dictate direction and height. On the plus side, the swing guard-tackle potential is valuable and he has the frame of the speed Oregon offense. The Bears strength team can mold him a little to bulk up as a guard.
