TEAMS: Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings
The Redskins take on the Vikings this week, for the final home game of the season. Both teams have had disappointing seasons, filled with quarterback drama and defeat. The Redskins are 5-9, while the Vikings are 2-12. Statistically speaking, this game should be less of a challenge for the skins, but as we’ve all seen, on any given Sunday (or Saturday) anything can happen.
While very little is at stake for either team except for draft position, a tremendous amount is at stake for the players. Both teams seem to be in the process of restructuring and rebuilding themselves, so no player can take their job for granted, and each must step onto the field and play their best football. With that said, this could be a surprisingly intense game.
Redskins Offense:
With the season drawing to a close this is one of the final chances certain players will have to prove their worth to the organization. Santana Moss will need to prove, once again, that he has gotten wiser, not weaker with age. Ga...

Redskins secondary aims to continue interception upswing
Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett and his defensive backs have said all season that interceptions come in bunches and if they continued to do their jobs effectively, eventually they would experience a breakthrough.
The Redskins finally had that day last week against the New York Giants, when they intercepted Eli Manning a season’s-best three times. Cornerbacks...
RB Roy Helu will not play Saturday
The Washington Redskins will be without starting running back Roy Helu, who was limited in practice this week by knee and toe injuries. Helu had hoped to play and said on Thursday that he felt “a lot better,” but coaches obviously consider him unable to play effectively Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings. Fellow rookie Evan Royster is expected to start in place of Helu.

Halftime Report From FedExField

In the last two weeks Darrel Young has gone from an unsung hero in the blocking game, to being a weapon and playmaker on offense. On the Redskins touchdown drive early in the second quarter, Young caught two passes for 33 yards. At the time, he was the team’s top receiver, and it was Young’s top receiving day, ever.

Royster, O-Line Get Chance to Shine
It’s been a long time coming for Evan Royster, but it was just another day at the office for the offensive line.
The Redskins may have lost to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, but it also marked the fifth straight game in which Washington has gained at least 100 net yards rushing – a sign that Mike Shanahan’s vaunted ground game may be ready to take flight.

2012 Draft: Where Redskins fit in
After last weekend’s win vs. the Giants and the Browns loss to the Cards, Washington slipped out of fourth pick down to 7th. After taking stock of the teams expected to have the top 7 picks and their needs, here’s how I...
