In an early season upset, the Washington Redskins beat the New Orleans Saints 40-32. The Redskins visited the defending NFC South champs for a week one showdown in the SuperDome. With exceptional play on the parts of a few different players, choosing the "Hero" of this game was made a little more interesting, but I think we all would agree on my pick.Hero: A guy by the name of Robert Griffin, III, was the hero in this game. Griffin managed to join the NFL's history book in his debut, putting up the second best performance ever, by a rookie quarterback. RG3 had his way with the Saints defense. He passed for 320 yards going 19-26 and two touchdowns. He scampered away from the threat of the rush, buying time to find receivers that were open down the field.Griffin performed as if he had been playing on Sundays for years now. He remained poised in the pocket and constantly made smart decisions. We'll hear a lot more from him for seasons to come.Honorable Mention:RG3 was...

Robert Griffin III-inspired ‘Griffining’ could become the new Tebowing (Pictures)
If you have not yet heard about Robert Griffin III’s Redskins debut, you were likely either out of the country on Sunday or do not follow sports. Griffin connected on better than 73% of his passes and threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns in an upset victory over the Saints. He also ran for 43 yards and finished the game with a phenomenal 139.9 passer rating. The RG3 sensation...

Is 'Griffining' this season's 'Tebowing'?
After Robert Griffin III's spectacular debut on Sunday for the Redskins in their 40-32 win over the Saints, fans in Washington are understandably giddy about their new signal caller, but this has led to a new trend in the style of Tebowing...and predictably, it's called Griffining.
During Sunday's game, Griffin raised his arms with one finger on each stretched to the...
Robert Griffin III Makes Redskins Immediate Contender by Redefining Quarterback Position
There were five rookie quarterbacks making their debuts on Sunday afternoon, but only one impressed enough to have Tom Brady gawk in amazement. Robert Griffin III took the field on Sunday with the entirety of Redskins nation anxiously awaiting their "savior's" debut. And he didn't disappoint. Griffin looked sensational from his very first series in the NFL, but...
Saints active DE Smith, make other moves
The New Orleans Saints activated defensive end Will Smith as part of series of roster moves by the team, the Times-Picayune reported Saturday. Smith was temporary relieved from his suspension for his role in the team's "bounty" scandal. Judges lifted the suspensions of four players involved on Friday. The Saints also got roster exemptions for linebackers Barrett...
Redskins won’t name starting running back
Redskins’ Head Coach Mike Shanahan loves a murky running back situation. He loves his opponents not to know what kind of back they’ll have to game plan against and he loves to be able to switch running backs depending on the matchup. It’s a smart football philosophy, but it creates a wasteland in fantasy leagues. Alfred Morris, Evan Royster, and Roy Helu all will probably start...
Drew Brees Tops 300 Yards in Loss To Redskins
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees salvaged a lousy day with two fourth-quarter touchdown passes.Fantasy Spin:Brees finished with 339 yards on 52 passing attempts, three touchdowns and two picks. He completed just 46.2 percent of his passes.
Not just RG3, the Shanahans are for real
Wow. What a game. The unspoken heroes of the game are Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan and OC Kyle Shanahan who everyone was ready to throw under a bus if things didn't turn around this season. At this point, even if things go south, they still did the impossible and they have earned another year. They took a rookie QB and made him totally ready for the first game against...
Saints Nation: Saints Fall Flat in Season Opener, Lose 32-40 to Redskins
I'm going to keep this short and sweet because I've already done this write up once and somehow lost everything when my Safari browser decided to crash. Awesome. As if I wanted to write about this game again. In short: it sucked. The penalties thing is less concerning to me because I firmly believe that can be cleaned up pretty easily and I think the Saints have good maturity...
Redskins 40, Saints 32
Robert Griffin III began his NFL career by connecting on 19 of 26 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns, and the Washington Redskins handed the Saints a 40-32 loss in their first game since the bounty scandal that overshadowed New Orleans' offseason.
Griffin completed his first eight passes, including an 88-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon, tying for the second-longest...
Colston Likely To Start For New Orleans
ESPN's Ed Werder says he saw Saints receiver Marques Colston (foot) warming up, an indication that he'll probably be in the starting lineup Sunday against the Redskins despite his status as "questionable."Fantasy Spin:Colston has been as consistent as they come for the Saints, producing five 1,000-yard campaigns in his six seasons in the league. He should be a solid...
Saints Likely Facing Significant Civil Penalties From Federal Vicodin Investigation
Federal authorities have continued to investigate the New Orleans Saints for misuse of their prescription painkiller supplies stemming from a lawsuit filed in 2010, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, and that inquiry is not yet closed. The Drug Enforcement Agency launched a thorough investigation into the matter, and authorities have been working with the Saints...

And Here Come The RG3 Rap Tributes
The Redskins beat the Saints 40-32 on Sunday, and in NFL fan terms that means “the Redskins are going to have a great season and win the Superbowl”, so here’s the first of what I assume will be an absolute deluge of RG3 rap tributes. This one is from “Money M.I.C.” and features a burning Troy Aikman jersey. Because, you know, that’s timely. (via Outside The Boxscore...
