With the Bucs visiting Atlanta on Sunday, Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris watched Monday’s Falcons-Saints game with great interest.
Of course, it was New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees who stole the show, and Morris wasn’t the least bit surprised to see him break Dan Marino’s single-season passing yardage record.
As a division foe, Morris has game planned for Brees and the Saints six times as Bucs’ head coach and four other times as a Tampa Bay assistant. If anyone is familiar with the precision with which Brees plays and the relentlessness of the Saints’ passing game, it’s Morris.
“I told you: Every week, win, lose or draw, (Brees) is going to throw for 300 yards,” Morris said. “Every single week. Except he got 260 on us. He’s phenomenal. . . He is certainly something to watch.”
Morris watched the Saints and Brees celebrate, even sending a congratulatory text message to coach Sean Payton. It was a moment to appreciate, Morris said.

They should be salty.
Not at Brees or Sean Payton, but at themselves for allowing Brees to slice up their secondary. If I was on the Falcons I would want to come back and play the Saints in the Playoffs and take my soul back.
With Drew Brees a mere 30 yards away from breaking the single-season passing yards record, Saints coach Sean Payton was presented with an interesting dilemma...
On the way to Drew Brees breaking Dan Marino's single-season passing record, the Saints scored a whole lot of touchdowns, and the Falcons resorted to a whole lot of field goals. One writer and an unnamed Falcons player had a problem with the Saints continuing to pass when they were up by 22 points.
It was a questionable decision to say the least to go for it in that manner since...
Kellen Moore is short. Because of that, he's projected as a sixth-round NFL draft pick. Moore may not be the next Drew Brees, but he could be close, says Stewart Mandel in the Mailbag.
San Antonio Spurs fans showed why they’re one of the best, most loyal fan bases in the NBA, not to mention how desperate they were for the season to start. Aside from selling out the AT&T center for opening night against the Memphis Grizzlies, the game was the highest rated primetime program on Monday night. This was even more impressive considering there was a Monday...
