Woooooo! It’s football season in Cleveland. Not really, it’s just a preseason game where the few starters who will play might see one quarter of action. You know what it actually is, though? Baseball season, that’s what! Seriously, head to Progressive Field for the Indians game instead of watching this farce of a football contest in person. Maybe DVR it instead. The Indians need you more than the Browns third-stringers do. Hey, why is no one listening to me?!?
The Browns do have what I suppose a desperate man might call a football game tonight. Will it be interesting? Probably not unless you’re one of those nuts who obsesses over who’s going to make the Browns practice squad. Will it be well attended? You bet it will be! Anyway, let’s preview this glorified practice.
St. Louis Rams (2012: 7-8-1, 3rd in NFC West, missed playoffs)
The Rams record last season was as close as you can be to a .500 team without actually being a .500 team. Seriously, think about it. No, I didn...

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Browns are playing it safe with Trent Richardson.
Cleveland's star running back will not play in the club's exhibition opener on Thursday night against the St. Louis Rams as he continues to recover from an injured right shin. Richardson was accidentally kicked in the shin -- the same one he hurt during spring practice -- last week, and the Browns won...
Cleveland Browns rookie LB Barkevious Mingo made his NFL debut in smashing fashion Thursday night as he pressured St. Louis Rams quarterbacks and registered a special team’s tackle.
According to the Akron Beacon-Journal, Browns running back Trent Richardson (shin) will miss Thursday's preseason opener.Fantasy Spin:The number of preseason games Richardson has played in his NFL career will remain firmly at zero. He missed all four last year after undergoing knee surgery. The move to hold him out Thursday is considered precautionary, however. T-Rich has been...
Browns starting right guard Shawn Lauvao is undergoing arthroscopic ankle surgery and will not be ready for the start of the regular season.
Coach Rob Chudzinski said Friday that Lauvao (la-vow), who has made 32 consecutive starts, did not break a bone when he was injured earlier this week in practice. Chudzinski would not provide any other specifics of Lauvao's injury or a...
The Cleveland Browns finished the 2012 season with a 5-11 record.
In the offseason, the Browns underwent an entire front office change which included hiring a new head coach, Rob Chudzinski.
The Browns also brought in a number of players this offseason, including linebackers Paul Kruger and Quentin Groves, defensive tackle Desmond Bryant, tight end Gary Barnidge, wide receivers Davone...
Brandon Weeden won over some of his critics and got a skeptical town fired up about the season with an impressive preseason debut against the Rams Thursday night.
Weeden did everything he set out to do in the first exhibition game - a 27-19 Browns victory at FirstEnergy Stadium -- and then some.
In two series of work he completed 10 of 13 attempts for 112 yards and a two-yard touchdown...
The Cleveland Browns take on the St. Louis Rams in their first preseason game on Thursday, and running back Trent Richardson will probably stay on the sidelines, reports Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer.
Last Thursday, Richardson was kicked in his right shin at practice, and the team doesn't want to risk any further injury to their lead back, who they have big plans for in...
Last night was great. It was an evening all about football, and even though it was just preseason action, I couldn't get enough. For much of the night, I was flipping between games or watching NFL Network's "RedZone" style coverage. Here's some quick observations about the evening.
10/13, 10/14 and 6/7 — that was the stat line for each of the three quarterbacks...
Brandon Weeden made coach Rob Chudzinski's debut a success, and may have stopped any quarterback controversy before it started.
Weeden threw a touchdown pass and led Cleveland on two scoring drives, and Travis Benjamin returned a punt 91 yards for a TD as the Browns won Chudzinski's first exhibition game, 27-19 over the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night.
Browns backup running back Montario Hardesty is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury that may cause him to lose his spot as No. 2.Fantasy Spin:The oft-injured Hardesty has fallen behind newcomer Dion Lewis who has looked good in training camp. Hardesty is likely now battling with Brandon Jackson for a roster spot.
Brandon Weeden's goals were to manage the game, not make any mistakes and keep Cleveland's offense going forward.
He did much more than that.
Weeden made coach Rob Chudzinski's debut a success, and the second-year quarterback may have stopped any controversy before it started.
Weeden threw a touchdown pass and led Cleveland on two scoring drives, and Travis Benjamin...
It might feel like the Pittsburgh Steelers are the only team in the league that is currently losing players to injury, but trust me when I say it is happening to other teams as well. According to Tom Withers of the Associated Press, Cleveland Brown staring right guard Shawn Lauvao is undergoing ankle surgery and [...]
Browns Lose Starting RG Shawn Lauvao For Start Of Season is a...
Thursday I gave you five things I was watching for each the starters and the reserves. This is the evaluation of those topics.
From the starters:
1) The Browns did have a rhythm on offense. Unlike many games last season, Weeden came out and hit receivers early. The first play from scrimmage Weeden hit Lewis on a little swing pass out of the backfield. He hit on his next three passes...
