Wes Welker returned to practice on Friday, another sign that suggests that he will be active against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Welker who has been dealing with an ankle injury also participated in Thursday’s walk-through.
The offense of the Patriots has the leagues highest output in terms of yards (430) and points per game. (33.2)
New England will look for ways to gash a Colts defense who ranks in the middle of the pack in nearly every defensive statistic. The Colts have allowed 22.3 points per game, 12th best.
Welker is averaging 90 yards receiving per game. On the year he has 66 catches for a total of 810 yards and two touchdowns. The injury to Welker’s ankle occurred in the fourth quarter of a game against St. Louis on Oct. 28. The Patriots had a bye week last week.
Left guard Logan Mankins has not practiced this week. That does not necessarily mean he will not play though.
