All the teams that were salivating over free agent Wes Welker and Patriot fans that were worried we could lose a valuable piece of this prolific offense, hold your horses; a deal with the Patriots and Welker could be in the works. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Albert Breer have been hearing rumblings that a long-term deal between the Patriots and Welker is still a distinct possibility. The deal could potentially reach 5-years and a reported 8 million dollars per year. This deal could all happen before the start of free agency in two weeks and before franchise tags are due in one week. For all of us that like Welker, this is a promising report coming from very reputable sources. In earlier articles, I placed less importance on Welker because I believe you can get that production elsewhere, but if I can get Welker at 8 million a year as opposed to 11 then I am all for it; I by no means am a Welker hater.
