Ever start looking for something and the search took so long you forgot what the scavenger hunt was all about midway into it?
That might be where the Miami Dolphins are in this 37-day-old search for a head coach. The team is well into the second round of interviews with finalist Todd Bowles, Joe Philbin and Mike McCoy, the three individuals who made the cut.
But how do they stack up with the search criteria?
We started this thing looking for someone who believes in the management structure set up by owner Steve Ross, and followed through by General Manager Jeff Ireland.
That clearly wasn’t Jeff Fisher, who picked the Rams over Miami last week and cities both organization’s power structure and the quarterback as his deciding factors. Fisher will have final say with the Rams organization and will pick his own GM.
Ross wanted someone with head coaching experience, which was Fisher. But when that fell through he never looked at any other candidates with head coach experience...
