The Steelers have been playing very good football the last three weeks with three straight wins over the Bengals, Redskins, and defending Super Bowl champion Giants. During those three contests the Steelers have been without their number one running back Rashard Mendenhall who is battling an achilles injury and is still overcoming a torn ACL suffered in week 17 of the 2011 season. Troy Polamalu hasn’t played in any of the three games either as he is still fighting a calf injury that has plagued him for the entire 2012 season. The Steelers starting right tackle, Marcus Gilbert, has also missed all three games with a high ankle sprain. So, who gets their starting jobs back when they return? The Steelers are playing very good football and the team is finally starting to come together. Well, to start Troy Polamalu will be on the field if he is healthy and ready to go. When you have an all-time great like Troy Polamalu you put him on the field even if it may have a slight impact on some ...

Running back Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles...

Steelers secondary thriving without Polamalu

The Pittsburgh Steelers secondary is finding there is life without injured star safety Troy Polamalu. The Steelers are first in the NFL in passing yards allowed, giving up just 174 per game. They held Eli Manning to a miserable 125 passing yards in a 24-20 victory over the New York Giants last week as Pittsburgh (5-3) won its third straight game. Polamalu has played in just two...

Rashard Mendenhall Will Start Once Healthy

Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson said once Rashard Mendenhall returns to full health, he’ll be the team’s starting running back. “Rashard has always been our lead dog and our top runner. Rashard is the complete package — power, speed, explosiveness,” said Wilson, via Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “He is the guy who can take a 10-yard run and...

Antonio Brown, Troy Polamalu, and Marcus Gilbert will all miss the Steelers Monday Night game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but there is some hope for week 11. Week 11 is an especially important game as the Steelers will host the Baltimore...

Steelers Have Tough Choices to Make at Runningback with Dwyer, Redman, and Mendenhall

According to running back coach Kirby Wilson the Steelers starting running back will be Rashard Mendenhall when he is healthy. Mendenhall is not expected to play Monday night against the Chiefs, but could play the following week in the Steelers first match-up with the Baltimore Ravens. Over the past two weeks the Steelers run game has emerged with a one hundred yard rusher in all...

It should be Mike Adams’ job to lose on the Steelers line

The Steelers will have a decision to make when 2nd round pick Marcus Gilbert is able to return from his ankle injury, but rookie Mike Adams isn’t making the decision for Mike Tomlin and Sean Kugler any easier..or is he? As Gerry Dulac points out, Gilbert’s injury could have been worse but was still bad enough: Gilbert sustained a nasty ankle injury in which the tendon that protects...

Mendenhall Will Be Steelers' Starter When Healthy

Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) will be the team's starter once he's healthy, according to Pittsburgh RB coach Kirby Wilson. SOURCE: Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewFantasy Spin:Mendenhall is expected to sit Monday against the Chiefs as the team goes with the hot hand at running back between Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer. Kirby said Wednesday that Mendenhall...

So is it the “hot hand” or is it Rashard Mendenhall for the Steelers?

As the season moves along for the Steelers we might be finding ourselves in the middle of a running back controversy in Pittsburgh. Now, by controversy I don’t mean something that necessarily divides the team like a quarterback controversy can but rather who Mike Tomlin will start vs who everybody else (including the players and coaches) thinks should start. So far we’ve seen...

Steelers Injury Report: Jonathan Dwyer, Rashard Mendenhall, Antonio Brown

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer was able to practice for the second straight day Friday, meaning he is probable to play Monday against the Kansas City Chiefs, while fellow running back Rashard Mendenhall, wide receiver Antonio Brown and safety Troy Polamalu all missed practice and are likely to miss the prime time contest. Dwyer missed last week’s game against...

Mendy Hits The Club

I have to live it up while I can Juan… Rashard Mendenhall fought hard to get back to the field this season and it only lasted a game and a quarter.  The Steelers RBs have been running wild without him in the lineup, but apparently he will be the starter when healthy. Raiders RBs Outlook In Week 10 Jon Baldwin To Be More Involved

Pittsburgh Steelers: Week 10 NFL Power Rankings (#7)

Last week: 9 (+2) Record: 5-3 The Steelers have been awfully impressive the last few weeks and even more impressive is that they’re doing it without Troy Polamalu. Over the last few years, they allow about a touchdown less per game when he’s in the lineup as opposed to when he’s not in the lineup, so just a imagine how good they’ll be once he returns. Ben Roethlisberger is...

Steelers Are Standing Strong In Week 10

By SBRForum.com With three wins in a row under their belt, including a hard fought victory against the New York Giants this past Sunday, the Steelers are looking like the team of old.  They have a relatively easy match up this week against the Kansas City Chiefs, but with the point spread at -12.5, the Steelers NFL odds for the week are a little risky. One of the reasons the team...
