For some Dallas Cowboy fans even the mere mentioning of replacing Tony Romo is sacrilege. Despite Romo having his best statistical season ever last year, if you asked the normal NFL fan who the better quarterback was, Peyton Manning or Tony Romo, most would respond Manning. So with the future Hall of Famer possibly hitting the free agent market soon, is the title question really that ridiculous? We all know that owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys  is enamored with Romo and will most likely ride him until his arm falls off. So there is almost zero chance Jones will ever replace Romo, at least for a very long time (see Emmitt Smith). On top of that, Romo appears to be at the top of his game right now. And disregarding the metal breakdowns he had in the New York Jet and Detroit Lion games last season, Romo played remarkably well most of the year. And most fans agree it was Rob Ryan’s (lack of) defense, and not the quarterback’s play, that was the main reason fo...

Newton, not Romo, worthy of Hawaii trip

The NFL made the right decision in selecting Carolina rookie Cam Newton as Eli Manning’s Pro Bowl replacement rather than the Cowboys’ Tony Romo. Romo had his best season, finishing with the league’s fourth-highest passer rating (102.5) after throwing for 4,184 yards with 31 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. But Newton set a rookie record with 4,051 passing yards and an...

Clutch… ice in the veins… relentless…  These are phrases often used to describe NFL quarterbacks who perform best under pressure.  Regular season glory is good; just ask Dan Marino.  But if you ever want to truly be considered an elite NFL quarterback you have to perform when it counts the most and that’s in the postseason.  This is a list of guys who got it done in...

The future of Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning is unclear, but if he can play in 2012, the Miami Dolphins would be very interested in acquiring his services. Column: Manning no longer has to prove greatness

As if by design, the rain started swirling through Candlestick Park as it became clear that more than 60 minutes would be needed to find a proper opponent for the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Eli Manning had already thrown the ball 52 times, with mixed results in the NFC championship game Sunday. Now he put on his helmet and headed out for overtime against a San Francisco...

Cowboys Mulling Their Options At Backup QB

For the first time in three years, the Dallas Cowboys have a question mark behind Tony Romo on the depth chart. Jon Kitna retired last week after spending the last three seasons as the Cowboys’ backup quarterback, leaving Stephen McGee as the team’s only quarterback after the starter Romo. The Cowboys have been pleased with the development of McGee, who is entering...

The Dolphins Want Peyton Manning

The hiring of former Green Bay offensive coordinator Joe Philbin has only increased the speculation that the Miami Dolphins may make a run to sign free agent QB Matt Flynn, who backed up Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. But Flynn has apparently taken a back seat to one signal-caller in the mind of Dolphins owner Stephen Ross: Peyton Manning. The Palm Beach Post reported Sunday night that...

Panthers QB Cam Newton Added To The Pro Bowl Roster

Cam Newton is headed to Hawaii. With Eli Manning and the New York Giants punching their Super Bowl ticket Sunday with a win at San Francisco in the NFC championship game, Newton is expected to take Manning's spot on the NFC team in the Pro Bowl on Jan. 29 in Honolulu. Newton, who broke Peyton Manning's rookie passing record, was the NFC's first alternate at quarterback...

Eli Can Climb Another Rung This Sunday

Eli Manning's season started with a debate about whether or not he was an elite quarterback and it might end with another debate. It won't be about his elite status as any remaining holdouts have long ago given up that fight. The debate this time will be about whether or not he's the best quarterback in the Manning family. If he wins on Sunday against the 49ers, Eli...
