One random thing left over from a busy yesterday was about the signing of a new long snapper. The Patriots inked Matt Katula, a former Raven, to take the place of struggling Jake Ingram.
Katula was signed on Tuesday in the special teams overhaul, and he’s good to go for this weekend. So naturally, he met with reporters at his locker yesterday, doing so cordially and colorfully. Then, nicely, he said he’d like to never speak to us again.
“My job is to make the (other specialists) jobs easier,” Katula said. “I should be unnoticed. Hopefully, after this, I don’t have to talk to you guys much anymore. That’s kind of a goal. I’m just going to go out there and do what I’ve done…”
Ouch! He said it with a smile, and actually right. Really, fans should have no freaking idea who their long snapper is, because you should never think about it. If we’re talking to him, it’s because he snapped it over someone’s he...
