Robert Griffin III has been phenomenal. When the Washington Redskins traded up in the 2012 NFL Draft to take him second behind Andrew Luck, they did it with the expectation of RG3 becoming a franchise changing player.Little did the Redskins know that their expectations would be realized so quickly. The Redskins finished 10-6 this season and have won the NFC East division title for the first time since 1999. Robert Griffin III brought an instant change to the football culture in the nation's capitol. He has quickly become a cult hero to Redskins fans and NFL fans across the country. With all due respect to Indianapolis Colts quarterback - and fellow rookie - Andrew Luck, it goes without saying that RG3 has been the most outstanding rookie performer this season. RG3 should, however, take two individual accolades away this season. Namely NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and NFL Most Valuable Player.Yes I said it, NFL Most Valuable Player! Let me explain why.The Redskins finished 5-11 last season as compared to 10-6 and a division title this season. This means that he has helped improve the Redskins' fortunes by six games. Now statistically there have been very few rookies to accomplish what he has done this season in NFL history.RG3 has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 3,200 yards and 20 TD passes while rushing for another 815 and seven TDs. To throw for 3,000 yards and run for another 800 in your rookie season is unheard of. Accounting for 27 touchdowns is outstanding. What is most outstanding is that he only turned the ball over seven times while accomplishing these numbers. That's right five interceptions and two lost fumbles were all he committed in the turnover department for the whole year!!!RG3 has the stats to back up his claim at being the MVP. Why shouldn't he be named MVP? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are in the MVP discussion. You know what RG3 has in common with them? He has a Division championship. Adrian Peterson for all the running he did can't say that!! That is why serious consideration can be made for Robert Griffin III.
