What are the Pittsburgh Steelers waiting for in the re-signing of the young talented wide receiver Mike Wallace? We are a month into free agency and Wallace’s future as a Pittsburgh Steeler is still surrounded with a question mark. The question remains if Ben Roethlisberger will have one of his favorite targets to throw to in 2012. The Steelers didn’t sign Hines Ward who we saw retire rather than trade in his Black and Gold to play for another team and the Steelers have had plenty of shake-ups in their coaching staff. Why they haven’t given Wallace a new deal is anyone’s guess at this point. Wallace the three year veteran has played well for the Steelers. In 2011 he played in all 16 games and had 72 receptions for 1,193 yards and scored 8 touchdowns. In 2010 Wallace caught 60 passes from Big Ben and had 1,257 yards for a 21.0 yard average. Not bad right? What the heck are the Steelers waiting for with Wallace, there are plenty of teams that would love to have a wide receiver as good...

  • If you read what ArtII said "its two parties to it". I sounds like Bus Cook isn't negotiating and Wallace is willing to play for his restricted tender and the be a UFA. The Steelers could then franchise him and I think Wallace is fine with that.
However, I still believe that a couple of teams with Cap Space will think about signing him all the way up to the last minute. Bengals,Bills,Dolphins & Rams.
The RAms I think will call and ask about alternate compensation because the have the picks 33 & 39 in the second that could be tempting with The Steelers Cap issues.
Bengals have the two picks and It makes since to go after him and weaken a division rival. However they could end up with a very good rookie at WR.
Bills have made a splash in free agency and could put the cheery onto by signing Wallace.
Dolphins need to make a splash and what better way to do it than to get The best young deep threat in the game. They could also make a deal with the Steelers for alternate compensation(which is allowed under the RFA rules if Pittsburgh wants it). Mike Pouncey & a swap of first round picks would entice The Steelers. Hell Mike Pouncey & a 2nd would do it.

Steelers Unlikely To Have Cap Room To Sign OT Demetrius Bell

Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review writes that the Steelers aren’t in a position to become serious bidders for OT Demetrius Bell. Pittsburgh has some cap space to work with ($5.8 million according to recent NFL Team Cap Space numbers), but they may need that depending on what happens with WR Mike Wallace who has yet to sign his restricted free agent tender. Bell will meet...

The Story On Dont’a Hightower

By Jeremy Hritz More and more mock drafts are beginning to emerge as we get closer to Thursday, April 26th, and over and over, the most popular name to be called by the Steelers at number 24 is Alabama inside linebacker Dont’a Hightower. Conventional wisdom asserts that the Steelers will draft either an offensive lineman or Hightower with the first pick, yet the depth at the offensive...

Mike Tomlin expects Rashard Mendenhall to play in 2012

Despite the fact that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall suffered a torn ACL late in the 2011 season, head coach Mike Tomlin expects him to play at some point in 2012. “I am not looking at it from a totality of the season standpoint,” Tomlin said at the annual NFL meeting in Palm Beach, Fla., according to the club, per ProFootballWeekly.com. “I think it is...

If Brown says Wallace will be here, Wallace will be here

Antonio Brown seems pretty confident that Mike Wallace is going to hang around with the Steelers. When he was all suited up on NFL Network over the weekend, he said, “No doubt in my mind, he’s coming back.” We’ve heard players say before tha they want certain players to stick with them to help the team only to see them end up elsewhere for various reasons, but the Young...

Steelers don’t need to waste time looking for a RB

Try finding a mock draft that was done outside of Pittsburgh that doesn’t have the Steelers taking a running back with one of their selections…you probably have a better chance at picking the Mega Millions numbers by using your family’s birthdays. “Experts” everywhere seem to think that because Rashard Mendenhall’s knee gave out on him last year that the Steelers can’t...

Draft Prospects: Toney Clemons could provide late round value for the Steelers

We’re finally in the month of April, arguably the most important month in the offseason for any team as the NFL draft gets closer by the day.  The Steelers, as per usual, are quiet during the free agency period. They take care of their in house players by offering tenders to those they want to keep and move forward with draft preparations. The wide receiver position, as early...

What about the Cleveland Browns 22nd pick??

The Browns have two 1st round picks we already know what they should do with the #4 pick Claiborne,Blackmon,Richardson but what about the 22nd pick they got off the falcons last yr? We could trade the 22nd pick for more picks in the 2nd, 3rd.Word is the Browns are working on a trade with St.Louis for us to get a free pick which would be perfect. We use the #4 pick to take Claiborne...

We feature some of the mock drafts created by members of SA, here on the blog periodically. You can check them all out in our war room section. MDSteel15...

Steelers Plan To Target A RB In The Early Rounds Of The Draft?

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazettewrites that the Steelers could end up targeting a running back as early as the second-round in this year’s draft. Bouchette specifically mentions that Lamar Miller (Miami), Robert Turbin (Utah State) and Terrance Ganaway (Baylor) could all be options at some point during the draft. The fact that Rashard Mendenhall will most likely miss...
