What do the 1985 Chicago Bears, 1990 New York Giants, and 2000 Baltimore Ravens all have in common? They were all ranked in the top 10 defenses of NFL history. The allowed few yards, and even fewer points, while racking up the sacks. So, exactly how good were these teams? Let us take a look… 1985 Chicago Bears The Chicago Bears of 1985 had some fearsome leaders on their roles. DE Richard Dent and LB Otis Wilson were two of the team’s leaders combining for a total of 27.5 sacks, five interceptions, and four fumble recoveries. This was also the team of legendary player Mike Singletary. Altogether during the regular season this defensive unit allowed only 198 total points, 258.4 yards/game, and 4.4 yards/play.  At the conclusion of the ’85 season this Bears defensive unit had held opponents to 198 points, 258.4 yards/game, and 4.4 yards/play. They finished the season ranked number one on defense and took their team all the way to a Super Bowl victory. Oh, by the way, ...

Will Texans let Williams walk?

The Texans' defense didn't miss a step without its star Mario Williams, so much so that the team may let the former number one overall pick hit the market this offseason.

Dwight Jones Potential Target for the Texans

According to Optimum Scouting, the Houston Texans have started their look at arguably the best wide receiver at the Senior Bowl, Dwight Jones from the University of North Carolina. With a deep wide receiver class in Mobile, Alabama, Jones appears to be one of the top prospects of the group. The scouts try to talk to everyone, but it is good to see Jones being evaluated by the...

Should the Texans Resign Mario Williams?

Should the Texans Resign Mario Williams?  The answer to this question depends on how much Williams will want and for how long.  If Williams wants top dollar, the Texans would be better off letting Williams walk and using the money to fill other key needs on the roster. Sure, the Texans would love to resign an elite pass rusher, but Williams only played in 5 games this year and...

Texans Fans Jump Ship: What Did You Expect?

Two issues I might spaz out on here: (1) This is why no one takes you seriously Houston Texans fans. Yeah, your team lost, but I don’t think any team in the NFL is on an upward slope like the Texans. Stop being *******. I’m really hoping this collection of individuals doesn’t represent the entire fan base’s sentiment. Seriously. (2) Everyone in this video...

Houston Texans: Will Peyton Take Back the AFC South?

My prediction is no. He is past his prime, he has uncertainties, and he is owed $28 million dollars very soon. Texans Linked to Alameda Ta’Amu

With the 2012 Senior Bowl in full swing the Houston Texans are hard at work. It has been confirmed that the Texans have scheduled an interview with Washington Huskies defensive tackle, Alameda Ta’Amu. Ta’Amu was a force for the Huskies during the 2011 season and has been a staple in the defense since his freshman year in 2008. Appearing in 50 games for the Huskies in...

Franchise Tag Would Be Prohibitive For Texans LB Mario Williams

The team’s top priority will be to re-sign outside linebacker Mario Williams. The Texans can’t afford to carry Williams at $22.9 million for one...

Should the Jaguars Pursue Mario Williams in Free Agency?

Mario Williams may have been overshadowed for the last five seasons by the fearsome Indianapolis pass-rush duo, Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, but the quarterbacks of the AFC South no better than to ignore him. In his Monday Morning Quarterback column today, Peter King suggested that the Texans might just let Williams walk in free agency, despite GM Rick Smith recently saying...

Super Bowl XLII loss caused former Pats defensive lineman Jarvis Green quite a hangover

Losing is never fun. But what the Patriots nearly accomplished during the 2007 season, only to have it snatched it away with the 17-14 loss to the Giants in the Super Bowl, it left many players devastated.  Jarvis Green was one of several former players from the 2007 team I interviewed for today’s story talking about the possible revenge factor in the rematch. His recollections...
