PLAYERS: Tony Romo
TEAMS: Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys and their part time GM didn't have a great draft, how will that impact their season.  After signing Tony Romo to a huge contract, does he have enough talent to lead the Cowboys to the playoffs?  The NFC East has some solid teams and don't expect the Eagles to be a door mat again this season.   I like the Cowboys to win their home games, especially within the division, except when the Packers come to town.  Their road schedule is tough and I see them dropping their games against: KC, Det, NO, NYG, CHI and Washington. The NFC East is a tough division and the NFC is a loaded Conference, 9-7 does not get them into the playoffs. AFC East Patriots 12 Dolphins 7 Jets 3 Bills 1 AFC North Ravens 12 Bengals 11 Steelers 12 Browns 3 AFC South Texans 12 Colts 8 Titans 7 Jaguars 2 AFC West Broncos 10 Chargers 8 Raiders 12 Chiefs 11 ...

Witten defends Romo's work ethic

Jerry Jones said he expects Tony Romo's game preparation to improve now that he has signed a huge contract, but Jason Witten says that has always been the case.

Cowboys Closer to Rolling Dice with Doug Free

If the season started today, Doug Free would be our starting RT. The Cowboys are supposedly in the market for a new RT; however, they just let Tyson Clabo slip through their fingers. Clabo signed with the Miami Dolphins today, so you can scratch him off the list. The Cowboys still have options with Eric Winston and Winston Justice, but the longer the Cowboys wait the closer they...

Witten: Romo's time at Valley Ranch not a concern

MESQUITE Tony Romo's six-year, 108 million contract extension has Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones looking for more time on the job from his franchise quarterback. Jones has said multiple times that his request for Peyton Manning-type hours from Romo shouldn't be confused with the idea that Romo hasn't been putting in extra work. Jones wants even more commitment...

Tony Romo playing less golf this offseason

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is typically hitting up any golf tournament he can get his hands on during the NFL offseason.  It looks like this year is a little different now that Jerry Jones is heavily invested in him after signing him to a lucrative extension. Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com listed the golf tournaments that Romo has held out from this year. Tony Romo has...

The Dallas Cowboys Will Finish 2013 With Five Wins Or Less

The Dallas Cowboys have something in common with the following eight teams: St. Louis, Arizona, Carolina, Miami, Buffalo, Cleveland, Oakland, and Jacksonville. They aren’t from the same conference. They don’t all play in domes. They don’t all start a white quarterback. No, the thing that all of those teams, including the Cowboys, have in common is that for the past three seasons...

It's pay cut or get cut for Doug Free in Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys and right tackle Doug Free are quite seeing eye to eye these days. The team isn't willing to pay him his $7 million base salary in 2013, so it's either take a pay cut or get released to make room for his replacement. And their replacement they have in mind is apparently free agent Tyson Clabo. According to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas, "The Cowboys...

Tony Romo cutting back on golf: coincidence or commitment?

Tony Romo is arguably the best golfer in the NFL. He plays in the big Pebble Beach Pro-Am every year and almost always impresses viewers with the way he is able to hold his own against some of the game’s best. That type of stroke requires a lot of practice to perfect, but Romo is spending less time doing that this offseason. According to ESPNDallas.com’s Todd Archer, Romo has...

Jason Witten welcomes fellow TE Gavin Escobar

Longtime Cowboys mainstay Jason Witten says he has no qualms about the the team drafting a tight end in this year's draft. In fact, he's looking forward to the opportunity to mentor the young Gavin Escobar out of San Diego State. “It sounds like they were really high on him and think he can be a good player,” Witten said Friday at the Mesquite Boys & Girls Club...

Movement In Cowboys' Doug Free Situation

One of the moving pieces in the Cowboys’ right tackle equation is moving. Does it mean another piece is staying? Tyson Clabo, Dallas’ top-ranked free agent tackle and an upgrade over incumbent Doug Free, is signing with Miami, according to his agent. Meanwhile, what is Free up to? Here's the latest:

Potential Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader a Grandma?

When it comes to cheerleaders the first name that pops into the minds of just about everyone in the free (and heck probably the Communist world too) world thinks of first and foremost is the legendary Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Women travel from all over the country to try out for the squad; there has even been a reality show based around the tryouts (I have no idea if it...

Cowboys have leverage with Free's contract

IRVING One of the moving pieces in the Dallas Cowboys' right tackle equation is moving. Does it mean another piece is staying? Tyson Clabo, Dallas' top-ranked free agent tackle and an upgrade over incumbent Doug Free, is signing with Miami, according to his agent. That transaction removes some of the leverage the Cowboys may have had over Free, who as of a few days ago...

Cowboys Email Bag: The Draft Aftermath

So much to dive into today so let's just get to your emails: Loved your thoughtful analysis of the draft in your 4-29 post. Here is my question. Lots of folks say DL is a "need" for the Cowboys but I don't understand why. They have Ware, Ratliff, Hatcher, and Spencer as the starters. Then they have two of last years picks (Crawford and Wilber) as young talent...

Tony Romo cutting back on offseason golf

Cowboys fans who get irritated every time Tony Romo swings a golf club are in a for less-stressful spring and summer. Romo will be playing a lot less golf during the off-season, according to a report by ESPN Dallas. Romo has passed on playing several top amateur tournaments as well as qualifying for the HP Byron Nelson Championship and the U.S. Open. He declined a chance to play...
