FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Willis McGahee sustained a torn MCL and fractured leg during Sunday's win over the Chargers. The veteran running back will miss 6-8 weeks.
McGahee went down in the second quarter of the game, and was quickly ruled out after halftime. He had been on the verge of another solid outing, totaling 73 yards from scrimmage before departing.
He had hoped the injury wasn't serious, but the worst was confirmed and his regular season comes to an close.
In a best case scenario, McGahee could return for the start of the playoffs, exactly six weeks from now. But it's somewhat implausible to think that a 31-year-old with a documented history of leg injuries will return on schedule and back to prior form.
