Tyvon Branch knew he would be a part of the Oakland Raiders during the 2012 season when he signed his franchise tag tender in May. Now with a new four year deal signed, he will be a member of the Raiders and is focused on winning.

“I hoped that a deal would get done,” Branch said. “I love playing for the Raiders. It’s a great organization; I think we’re taking steps in the right direction and I want to be a part of it, so I wanted to get the deal done. I’m excited about it.”

Entering his fifth season with Oakland, Branch has been a standout in the secondary for the last three seasons. He has started every game during those years and has made over 100 tackles in each season. Because of his production, new head coach Dennis Allen is counting on Branch to become the leader of the defense.

“I think the sky is the limit,” Branch said. “As long as you work hard, put forth the effort and you want to become great, I think the sky is the limit. I’m just going to keep working and hopefully I can improve my game.”

Because Branch signed his tender and knew he would be back with the Raiders he has been preparing for the season without the contract negotiations as a distraction. He has been able to participate in the Raiders offseason workouts building chemistry with his teammates. Now his focus is on winning and getting the Raiders to the playoffs.

“I don’t really have any personal goals, I just want to win,” Branch said. “Whatever it takes to win, I’m all about winning. That’s the most important stat and whatever it’s going to take for us to get in the big dance. We want to be a part of the tournament this year, get in the playoffs, so whatever it takes for us to get there.”
