Coming off a season ending ACL injury last year, Adrian Peterson came back as a force gaining 2,097 yards, second most to Eric Dickerson all-time. This effort was enough to get Peterson the MVP Award and “offensive player of the year” this season. Peterson was the Vikings only form of attack, but he still managed to gain 150 yards in 7 games which ties an NFL record. Because of Peterson and the offensive line the Vikings got to the playoffs for the first time since the 2009 season. We should all take a step back and realize how far modern medicine has come getting these players back on the field in less than a year to an ACL and, on top of that, how they can come back seemingly quicker, faster and stronger. I don’t know if it’s those NFL workout routines or those protein shakes or a little bit of “something else” but it’s interesting to examine a player come back so quickly when before that same injury sidelined players for a year and a half.
