Carriker: Jenkins, Happiest Rookie Ever
Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker recently appeared on the ESPN 980 Sports Fix with Kevin Sheehan and Thom Leverro to discuss his season in review.
After discussing his own impending free agent status, he also talked about rookie prospect Jarvis Jenkins, who looked to be on the fast track to playing time before injury. As with any measure of success, it’s one thing to...

Adam Carriker Resembles ‘Ivan Drago’?
It recently came to my attention, via an interview on AM 1620 in Omaha, that some think Redskins defensive Adam Carriker looks like the Russian fighter ‘Ivan Drago’ from Rocky IV, played by Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren.
Certainly both are physical specimens, with Lungren standing 6-6, 250 pounds in his Rocky-prime. Carriker is also 6-6, and his NFL...

Carriker: Part Time Player, Full-Time Dad
AP Image
Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker is widely considered to be one of the strongest men on the team. His role on the defensive line is to be the grizzly bear that ties up two blockers so the linebackers can make plays, or the rhino that bursts through the line and takes down the quarterback.
But when he’s off the clock at Redskins Park, Carriker rushes home to spend...

Carriker On Fans, Bands, and Weird Smells

A recent post by Dr. Aaron of “Joe Sports Fan” blog captured our attention, because it discusses almost everything you’d ever want to know about Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker.
Carriker is having a beastly start to 2011, already accumulating more sacks (4.5) than he had in his career combined (3.5). He is also on track to break his season-high...

Adam Carriker held out Colts game with blisters
Defensive end Adam Carriker missed Friday’s preseason game at Indianapolis with blisters on his feet. He described them as “flesh wounds on the back of my heels,” and said he’s feeling better than he did earlier in the week.
“If it was a game today, a regular season game, I would’ve played,” Carriker said.
In his place, the Redskins started Jarvis Jenkins, the rookie...

An Interview With Redskins Defensive End Adam Carriker
What’s this? An article about a Redskins defensive linemen not named Albert Haynesworth? Yes sir!
Who would you say is the most important defensive player on the Redskins roster? London Fletcher? Brian Orakpo? Laron Landry? Any of those three would be a good choice. But who’s fourth? Who else is as vital to an improving defense as the guys listed above...

Redskin Adam Carriker: ” I did all I was supposed to do, I just can do more.”
Adam Carriker appeared on Backfield Radio last night and had plenty to say about his off-season, teammates and what goes on in the Redskins locker room.
When ask about his production last year and what we should expect from him next year:
You know individually, I did my job I did what I was supposed to do – hold my gap and all that. So the linebackers to run free and make plays...

The Redskins Can't Stop The Run And Adam Carriker Explains Why
The Redskins run defense ranks 27th in the league and is giving up 4.8 yards per carry. Only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers give up more YPC (we saw why last week when Ryan Torain rushed for over 170 yards against them).
Maybe it's the switch to the 3-4, the bad tackling, or injuries, but whatever the reason, opposing teams know they can pound the ball on the ground at will...

getting to know adam carriker

Back in April, the Washington Redskins made a low-risk, high-reward move – trading away a fifth and seventh round draft pick in this year’s NFL draft to the St. Louis Rams for defensive end Adam Carriker.
The trade reunited the 26-year-old, who was the 13th pick in the 2007 NFL draft, with his [...]

Adam Carriker hopes for a fresh start with Redskins, Jim Haslett
When defensive lineman Adam Carriker joined the St. Louis Rams as a first-round pick in 2007, Jim Haslett was the defensive coordinator, the team played in a 3-4 alignment, and Carriker excelled. Now, Carriker will play for the Washington Redskins - acquired in an offseason trade - and Haslett is the defensive coordinator who is moving the team to a 3-4 scheme. "It just kind of fits...
