Defensive players didn't expect Larry Coyer's firing. Then again, Bethea has a simple explanation:
At the very least, Coyer's departure should serve as a wake-up call to everyone associated not only with the defense, but the entire team.
"When you're losing, a lot of good things don't happen," safety Antoine Bethea said.

Colts Sign Bethea To New Four-Year Deal
The Colts announced this afternoon that they have signed Pro Bowl safety Antoine Bethea to a new long-term contract.
The deal is reportedly worth $27 million over the next four seasons.

Bethea Signs New Contract
NFL.com is reporting the Antoine Bethea has signed a new contract. Though no details are available officially, it is speculated that the deal is for four years and is similar to three-year $23.4 million extension signed by Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins recently. This is great news for Bethea and the Colts.

Great news on the signing front, Antoine Bethea is in the fold. The deal is a very reasonably priced four-year $27 million deal. There are several things to consider here:
This will take Bethea to age 30. Most safeties are done by then. He's always been durable, but safety is a demanding position. This effectively locks up Bethea through his prime years.
