Broncos sign TE Coats

No, not former Patriot tight end Ben Coates. He hasn’t played since 2000. This is Daniel Coats, the former Cincinnati Bengal. During the bye week, Broncos coach Josh McDaniels and his staff spent considerable time evaluating the team’s 2-6 first-half performance. It appears one area of identified concern was the tight end position. The Broncos signed Coats, who spent...

The Cincinnati Bengals release TE Daniel Coats

The Bengals have released 26-year old TE Daniel Coats.  Coats played in six games for the Bengals this year and he didn’t catch any passes.  Coats played in 53 games in his 4 years with the Bengals and he caught 30 passes for 291 yards (9.7 avg).  Coats wasn’t much of a weapon in the passing game and that’s likely what cost him his job.

Bengals Sixth in Drops Last Year. I Think.

I’ve been catching some criticism (Daniel Coats has been dropping it. Ha!) for my protective stance on Carson Palmer, but this latest statistic seems to offer some support. According to a thread on the Bengals message board, which cites another source, the Bengals were sixth in dropped passes last season. The team a total of 34 drops last season, dragging down Palmer’...

The Bengals know that despite their recent signings, they know there is more work to do. ?We?ve got some more things to do,? coach Marvin Lewis said. ?We have some other areas that we will kind of chip at and work at. We?ll continue to be diligent and get the right fits for our [...]
