Ravens sign LB Edgar Jones
Tuesday I wrote the Baltimore Ravens placed linebacker Prescott Burgess on injured reserve with an abdominal injury.
The Ravens have now made a corresponding roster move.
Baltimore signed outside linebacker Edgar Jones to take Burgess' place.
Jones had been with the Ravens in previous seasons, but signed with the Washington Redskins this preseason before being released.

That’s no rookie, that’s Edgar Jones
Few Washington Redskins players knew Edgar Jones at voluntary player workouts in June.
Some didn’t even know he was on the team. Others thought he was one of the Redskins latest draft picks.
In fact, the 6-foot-3, 262-pound tight end and linebacker hybrid played four seasons in Baltimore before he signed with the Redskins in January. That allowed him to join the team for voluntary...

Redskins Sign Ex-Ravens TE Edgar Jones
The Washington Redskins already started adding to their offseason roster earlier this week by signing six players to future contracts. They signed the seventh player to a future contract later in the week. The player, TE Edgar Jones, was waived by the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 23. Over his more than three years of time with the Ravens, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in...

E.Jones polishes his case to make the active roster
Previously thought to be trailing fellow linebackers Jason Phillips and Prescott Burgess, Edgar Jones may have propelled himself to front of the pack.
Jones recorded his second sack in as many games in the Ravens’ 27-21 loss to the St. Louis Rams Thursday night. He finished with three tackles – two of which were for losses – and one quarterback hurry.
“I feel like I did...

Ravens Roster Countdown – #48 Edgar Jones
Position: OLB/DE
Height/Weight: 6’3″/262 lbs.
Age: 25/Experience: 4

Analysis: One word comes to mind when I think of Edgar Jones, “versatile.” The outside linebacker/defensive end has also played tight end and full back for the Ravens and even recorded two receptions for 33 yards as a tight end in his career.
But Jones has best served the...

Jones returns to defense -- for now
In the three previous years that Edgar Jones has spent with the Ravens, he has spent perhaps an equal amount of time lining up as a linebacker and a tight end.
Jones, an undrafted rookie in 2007 who is entering his fourth season, is back to playing linebacker/defensive end – a position he flourished in when he played at Division I-AA Southeast Missouri State.
“I’m getting...

Jones Shakes Off Injury Scare
The Ravens must have expelled a gasp of fear when tight end Edgar Jones hit the turf in Tuesday’s practice. His left knee was inadvertently smacked by cornerback Evan Oglesby’s helmet on a routine passing play, causing Jones to drop and trainers to rush out to him.

Tight end Edgar Jones avoids serious injury
The Ravens avoided what appeared to be a serous injury when tight end Edgar Jones’ left knee collided with the helmet of cornerback Evan Oglesby during a passing drill of today’s passing camp at the Ravens’ training facility in Owings Mills.
Jones ran a short out route and tried to haul in a pass from quarterback Troy Smith. Jones’ left knee banged into the helmet of Oglesby...
