GIBRIL WILSON RUMORS

Afternoon roster moves — Wilson is back

The Bengals afternoon release of roster moves were mostly formalities except for one — safety Gibril Wilson is back with the club. He has signed a one-year deal for around the league minimum ($810,000). Wilson, who is entering his eighth season, played in first three preseason games last season but suffered torn a torn left knee ligament (ACL) against Philadelphia. The club...

Bengals safety Gibril Wilson was helped off the field and into the dressing room tonight in the second quarter of the Bengals-Eagles game. It looks like the injury will end his season. His agent, Alvin Keels posted the following message on Twitter: “ACL/MCL for Gibril Wilson what a bummer. I felt he would really contribute this year. He will bounce back.”

Dolphins showing strong interest in free safeties

Last week I suggested that the Dolphins could target Taylor Mays in the 1st round. At the time it was pure speculation based on Bill Parcells’ draft history and their need for a free safety. But now there appears to be some validity to my prediction. Could the Dolphins target Earl Thomas in the 1st round? The Dolphins are showing a strong interest in this year’s class...

Agent: Dolphins to release free safety Gibril Wilson

The Dolphins plan to release much-maligned free safety Gibril Wilson today, according to a "tweet" by his agent, Alvin Keels. Wilson’s struggles were a big reason the Dolphins defense finished 15th in the AFC in yards allowed per pass play and gave up 38 pass plays of 25 yards or longer. Many ...

Teams with a definite need at the safety position got some good news today, with Miami choosing to release Gibril Wilson, making him a unrestricted free agent and free to sign with any team he chooses. Agent: Miami Dolphins to release Gibril Wilson

The Gibril Wilson Experiment with the Miami Dolphins is over. According to the Twitter account of Wilson’s agent, Alvin Keels, the Dolphins “will be releasing” their starting free safety today after just one season in South Florida. This probably shouldn’t come as a shocker considering the fact the Dolphins offered a five-year contract in the range of [...]

Will the Miami Dolphins purge bloated salaries?

If the Miami Dolphins want to dump Gibril Wilson and his bloated salary, this is the offseason to do it? While all of the secondaries failures can't be blamed on the team's starting free safety, who struggled mightily in coverage...

Miami Dolphins talking points: Is Gibril Wilson miscast in the Dolphins defense?

No safety since 2006 has more tackles than Gibril Wilson's 410 stops. That includes 89 this season - second to strong safety Yeremiah Bell. Yet, Wilson has made so many mistakes during his first season with the Dolphins, many wonder he'll even be on the roster next season a la 2008 free-agent ...

Free Safety Wilson On The Hot Seat?

The Miami Herald talks today about the decision to possibly bench Gibril Wilson: The Dolphins believe it’s premature to bench Gibril Wilson after giving him a five-year, $27.5 million deal but there have been coverage breakdowns and the missed tackle on Indianapolis’ opening-play touchdown. With Wilson and free agent bust Eric Green, the Dolphins regrettably [...]
