Jets bringing in Kris Brown
Following up on our earlier report that the New York Jets were bringing in a kicker today, ESPNNewYork.com is reporting that the Jets are bringing in free agent Kris Brown.
Brown, 33, was released on Nov. 23 by the San Diego Chargers, after kicking in three games for them. A 12 year veteran, Brown has played for the Chargers, Steelers and Texans.

Kris Brown was brought in to take over the kicking duties for Nate Kaeding while Kaeding nurses his strained groin. Brown spent the last 8 years with the Texans and has compiled a 77.3% on his FG attempts. He will just hold the job temporarily until Kaeding is ready to start kicking the ball again.

Brown has slight lead in kicking competition; will foot condition be an issue?
Kris Brown and Neil Rackers have been neck and neck, or should I say foot and foot, in their much publicized competition to win the Texans starting kicking job.
Rackers is 4 for 4 on FGs during preseason with a long of 52. He's 2 for 2 on PATs and has no touchbacks on eight kickoffs.

Southlake Product Brown Battling for Kicking Job with Texans
Kris Brown admits this is an unfamiliar position to be in. After 11 NFL seasons, the veteran kicker finds himself fighting it out with another veteran to be the Texans place kicker this fall. The Southlake Carroll product is battling with Neil Rackers, most recently of the Arizona Cardinals with the prize being Houstons kicker.
