MANHATTAN, Kan. - Mark Simoneau is inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall Of Fame. Kansas State standout at linebacker, Mark Simoneau had a very distinguished career in the NFL and was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round pf the 2000 draft.

Former K-State player Simoneau retires
One day after being placed on the injured reserve list, linebacker Mark Simoneau announced his retirement. In a statement released by his agent, Simoneau said a neck injury he received in Sunday’s loss to Denver led to his decision to retire.

Simoneau gets the call from his hometown NFL team
Mark Simoneau was not just a phone call away from signing with the Chiefs. He was a 25-minute ride down I-435 from Arrowhead Stadium. So when the opportunity arose for Simoneau, a nine-year NFL veteran linebacker and former Kansas State star, to join the team he grew up watching, he pulled out of his driveway in Johnson County and was on the practice field Wednesday morning.
