The Washington Redskins have put cornerback Phillip Buchanon on season-ending injured reserve.
Buchanon has been troubled by neck and knee problems and appeared in only two games this season after being suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
This was his second season with Washington and 10th in the league.

Redskins Cornerback Phillip Buchanon Suspended 4 games
The NFL has suspended Redskins cornerback Phillip Buchanon for 4 games to open up the season. There hasn’t been a reason for it listed just yet, but my suspicion is he failed a drug test. He didn’t seem to be in the media for having other law issues, so I would fail to see how it could be anything else.
This is a tough blow to the Redskins secondary to start the season...

Per PFT:
Recently, there were rumors that the Lions might trade for cornerback Antonio Cromartie. They haven't, and they reportedly won't.But they've cut one of their own one-time first-round cornerbacks, parting ways with Philip Buchanon, a league source tells us.
There really isn't much to add. Buchanon was a HUGE free agent disappointment, as he was continually...

Cunningham on Buchanon benching: 'The best guys are gonna play'
Phillip Buchanon is politely declining to talk to the media right now. And that's probably just as well. There's nothing for him to talk about. Buchanon, one of the free-agent acquisitions this team was counting on to shore up a league-worst defense, simply has to prove himself on the field to this

From the University of Miami to Detroit
What's up everybody? This is Phillip Buchanon of the Detroit Lions. I'm one of the newest members of the Yardbarker Community. This is my first year as a member of lions after spending the previous years with the Raiders, Texans, and most recently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I just finished my first week up here in Detroit. I must say, it's quite different from Tampa, it...
