The San Francisco 49ers lose Travis LaBoy for the rest of the year
The 49ers have placed 29-year old OLB Travis LaBoy on the Injured Reserve List with a knee sprain. LaBoy played in 14 games for the Niners this year and he had 28 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 5 sacks. The Niners are going to miss LaBoy’s pass rushing ability the rest of the year.

Speculation is growing in San Francisco that outside linebacker Travis LaBoy, a free agent who signed a one-year contract with the Niners for $1.6 million, could find it very difficult to make the final roster. Same goes for veteran reserve offensive lineman Barry Sims, who we hear could get beaten out for a back-end roster spot by the younger, more versatile Alex Boone.

LaBoy back in the hunt
Travis LaBoy brought 23½ career sacks with him when he signed with the 49ers on Apr. 20. But the sixth-year NFL veteran and Marin Catholic High graduate hasn't been much of a factor on the practice field so far.

Jets take a LaLook at LaBoy
A couple of years ago, Travis LaBoy was considered an emerging pass rusher in the NFL. The Cards thought so much of the Titans' former second-round pick that they signed him to a five-year, $22 million contract at the start of free agency in 2008.
Things went badly for LaBoy. He got off to a good start, but injured his biceps, underwent surgery, got cut after only one season...
