Lions work out Vernon Gholston
The Detroit Lion worked out former New York Jets first-round bust Vernon Gholston, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.
The former Ohio State star tried out for the Houston Texans earlier this season.
Gholston didn't succeed with the Jets or during a brief stint with the Chicago Bears.

The Chicago Bears sign DE Vernon Gholston
The Bears have signed 25-year old DE Vernon Gholston. Gholston played in 16 games for the Jets last year and he had 12 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. Gholston has played in 45 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 42 tackles and 3 tackles for a loss. News: Gholston Passes Through Waivers
Former New York Jets DL Vernon Gholston has passed untouched through the NFL waivers process unclaimed according to FoxSports. Gholston, the former sixth pick of the draft was untouched during the waivers process, and was scheduled to earn $555,000 in base salary next season along with a $2.565 million roster bonus and a $250,000 workout bonus. Vernon Gholston biggest defensive end bust ever?

In fact, Gholston, taken sixth overall in 2008, may have been the biggest bust of any defensive end ever selected in the NFL draft.

All the now former Jet linebacker had to do was get one sack or force or recover a fumble to earn himself a cool nine million dollars but the underachieving draft bust couldn't even manage that.
