Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston is reporting that the Texans are signing veteran NT Ryan Pickett to a contract.
Berman adds that rookie NT Louis Nix will be placed on season-ending injured reserve to make room for Pickett.
The Texans brought Pickett in for a tryout this week.

Free Agent NT Ryan Pickett recently mentioned that he expects to be on a roster by the start of training camp.
“I can still play ball. Just turn on the tape,” Pickett said, via The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I can do my job. And I do it well. I like to prove people wrong. I feel great. I don’t feel old.”

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, the Packers remain in a “holding pattern” regarding free agent defensive linemen Ryan Pickett and Johnny Jolly.
Demovsky expects them to wait until after the draft to decide on either players, but mentions that Jolly’s neck injury is “recovering nicely” and shouldn’t be an issue.
