Getting away from the NYC spotlight did something to this team. After three sluggish games on home ice (all losses), the Rangers easily defeated the Senators 4-1 on Friday night. If the Rangers don’t want to be watching the playoffs from home for the second straight year, they need more games like this. New York scored the first four goals of the game before Ottawa broke the shutout bid of Henrik Lundqvist with 15:04 remaining in the contest that wasn’t really much of one. The first goal was due to the hard work of Sean Avery, who battled in the corner before getting the puck to Vaclav Prospal. He wrapped around the net and fired a quick shot past Craig Anderson midway through the first. Mats Zuccarello and Artem Anisimov scored goals 12 seconds apart in the second period to put the game out of hand.
