Rangers Danger:
For the second time in three games, the New York Rangers scored only one goal and for the second time in three games, that was good enough for a win. Henrik Lundqvist set a new career high with his league leading 11th shutout in a 1-0 victory over the Northeast leading Boston Bruins Saturday afternoon. Rookie Derek Stepan struck 6:39 into the game for the only goal of the contest. With the Bruins currently 3rd in the East and the Rangers 7th, this could be a playoff preview if the latter doesn’t stumble towards the finish line.
What was more incredible about the 26 saves Lundqvist made this game was the 29 shots his teammates blocked to preserve the shutout. But certainly, those are bumps and bruises the players won’t mind after the victory put them two points ahead of 8th place Buffalo, a team they face in their next game on Wednesday night.
