It looks like Ray Emery will join the Flyers and their goaltending carousel. The Fourth Period is reporting he’ll likely sign a 1 year deal. Emery was 17-1 with Chicago last year with a 1.94 GAA and .922 Save %. He could work very well in a split situation with Steve Mason. Has Philly figured something out? Finally?
15 minutes to go until free agency gets underway and rumors are flying like crazy. The latest being Rob Scuderi *possibly* to the Pens for $3 mil, 3-4 years (from Darren Dreger). Buckle up for what could be a crazier day than anyone is anticipating.
Other news: Daniel Alfredsson has said he will not return to Ottawa. Detroit is his likely destination. Phoenix re-signs Lauri Korpikoski to a 4 year, 2.5 mil./yr. Florida re-signs Shawn Matthias for 2 years, $1.75 mil/yr.
As I get this blog started, here are some of the moves that will be officially signed as of noon:
Vincent Lecavalier moves from Tampa Bay to Philly for 5 years, $4.5 mil/yr.
Pascal Dupuis remains in Pittsburgh for 4 years, $3.75 mil/yr.
Jordan Leopold stays in St. Louis for 2 years, $2.25 mil/yr.
Patrick Elias stays in New Jersey for 3 years, $5.5 mil/yr.
Daniel Briere moves from Philly to Montreal for 2 years, $4 mil/yr.
Keith Ballard leaves Vancouver for Minnesota for 2 years, $1.5 mil/yr.
Adam Hall stays in Philly for 1 year, $600k

Four years after leaving the team with what many believed would be a career ending ailment, “Razor” Ray Emery is returning to the city of brotherly love.
As free agency was just to get underway, Ren Lavoie of RDS reported the goaltender will be joining the Philadelphia Flyers. Terms of the deal are unknown, but...
There is a lot to like about the Flyers' signing of unrestricted free agent goaltender Ray Emery yesterday. In tandem with Steve Mason, the team may not have elite goaltending on paper but a split-time arrangement and healthy competition could work between two players who want to be here and feel like they still have something to prove.
You can't argue with the price tag...
The Flyers welcomed back a familiar face today, signing goaltender Ray Emery to a one-year contract. Having rid themselves of the contract Ilya Bryzgalov by exercising the amnesty clause, Emery will fill the roster spot vacated by the move. Emery will compete for the starting job with goaltender Steve Mason, acquired in April from the Columbus Blue Jackets...

Once the window for free agent visits opened up, though, Emery found he could be expecting offers from the Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers and New York Islanders if he was patient...

(Photo: Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images) Free agency kicked off today at noon, and Paul Holmgren made signing a goaltender his first order of business. Today, the Philadelphia Flyers signed goaltender Ray Emery to a 1-year deal worth $1.65M. Emery, 30, was the back-up goaltender of the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. It appeared that he would [...]
Claude Giroux contract is official and Ray Emery is your new, and very likely, No. 1 goalie for the Flyers.
Gonna be very interesting to see how Emery and Steve Mason work out in net this year. You got to be impressed with Emery's attitude about being a better team guy and understanding that goaltending is a tandem operation.

The NHL draft is in the rearview mirror, the free agency period is upon us, and that means one thing in Philadelphia. Among a littany of trade rumors and speculation as to which free agents they will attempt to sign, the Flyers were once again in the market for a starting goaltender.
Other than last year when Ilya Bryzgalov was entering his second...
After buying out the bloated nine-year, $51M contract of underperforming goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, the Philadelphia Flyers were once again in the market for a netminder. Steve Mason was the only viable option they had as a starter, but now they’ve brought in some competition for him.
Philadelphia inked Ray Emery to a one-year contract today. The 30-year-old goalie is coming off...
Follow @BBSuns // Per Darren Dreger, goaltender Ray Emery is expected to return to Philadelphia and battle Steve Mason for the #1 goaltending position. Expect Emery to sign with Flyers. Expect a 1 yr deal. Strategic move to establish starter role and bigger $$ down the road. — Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) July 5, 2013 Emery’s career stats courtesy of espn.com: [...]

Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!
11:45AM: The free agent market opens in about 15 minutes. It will be very interesting to see what the Islanders do today. We all know that they are in desperate need of goaltending. If the Isles do not get a goalie today, relax, it is not the end of the world. The goalies are the market are underwhelming, and a trade might be a better route...
In case you have not been following the twitter world...
Ray Emery will be joining the Flyers.
Daniel Alfredsson will be signing with the Wings shortly.
Scuderi may be deciding between the Kings and Penguins.
Dan Cleary has a decision to make, Dallas or Detroit.
from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,
Speaking of Clowe, the Habs were willing to do a short-term deal with him but it’s believed the UFA power forward wants to get a bit more security, and who can blame him. Keep an eye on the Devils, I believe they are the front runners for Clowe.
The Devils need a replacement for power forward David Clarkson, who has drawn a ton of interest...
