- Big Trade: The Dallas Stars trade forward James Neal and defenceman Matt Niskanen to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenceman Alex Goligoski.
- The Ottawa Senators trade veteran forward Alex Kovalev to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday for a conditional seventh-round pick
- The Anaheim Ducks acquired Dan Ellis from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for goaltender Curtis McElhinney.
- The Atlanta Thrashers moved defenceman Brent Sopel and forward Nigel Dawes to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward prospect Ben Maxwell and a fourth round draft pick.
