Conklin now 7-0, Penguins' streak hits six with 3-0 win
The Penguins continued to ride their momentum this afternoon with a 3-0 win at the Igloo against the Florida Panthers.
Ty Conklin got his second shutout in his last four games and ran his overall record this season with the Pens to 7-0. Conklin had 35 saves for the streaking Penguins, who won their sixth straight game.
Round 1 of Metropolis Weekend Goes to the Good Guys
The refs seemed determined to reward Rangers dives with power plays, but fortunately for the Flyers, the New York power play is a joke. The Flyers won 4-2 at home on the strength of a great day by Marty Biron, who lately looks like the guy who stole a few games for them in the 2008 playoffs. At the other end of the ice, the Flyers current third line, which consists of Giroux, Asham...
No Ty for Pittsburgh Goalies
I know it's kind of mean, but the goalie "controversy" in Pittsburgh really cracks me up:
It's Ty Conklin. I always felt his whole NHL career was predicated on the idea that U.S. international teams always need a third-string goalie.
He's potentially bumping Marc-Andre Fleury, who's so emotio...
Ty Conklin Stops 50-Shots as Penguins Beat Isles 4-2
The Pittsburgh Penguins capped an emotional trade day by beating the New York Islanders 4-2, despite being undermanned in the early going and being outshot 52-20. Ty Conklin had a stellar night in net as he turned aside 50 shots while Marc-Andre Fleury looked on from the bench. The Penguins appea...
Is This Bizarro Hockey World?
I am just having the hardest time wrapping my head around some of the things happening in the NHL this season. I will skip immediately to the examples:
Ty Conklin: Stud. What? Why is Conklin now the best thing since swiss cheese was sliced? What is going on? We al remember [...]
Playoff Game #5: Minnesota Wild vs. Colorado Avalanche, Thursday April 17, 2008 at 8pm (CDT), Xcel Energy Center (GAME PREVIEW)
Critical Playoff Statistics #5:
Minnesota Wild   4GP 0 1st period goals   0 2nd period goals

I feel like a broken record, but if you can't see the correlation between the above two bits of information, then I am worried about...
Odds & Ends
There was a lot of good stuff in the league last night. Marian Gaborik scored five goals. I saw one of them while I was flipping around checking out the HD games last night before the Stars game got underway. I don't need tell any of you with HD what a huge difference it makes in watching a game.

New Penguins Poll is up
I've posted a new poll question today, with the injury to Marc-Andre Fleury lasting between six to eight weeks, would you like to see GM Ray Shero acquire a goaltender. I guess that also in a sense is a confidence vote for Dany Sabourin and Ty Conklin.

Penguins battle back for 5-4 win in Montreal
Let me state for the record that I still hate the decision to start Dany Sabourin in goal tonight for the Penguins. I don't care if the guy grew up in downtown Montreal (which he didn't), and played well the last time in Habs-land. Ty Conklin is the #1 goalie as of right now, the Pens had a day off before the game and another day off after the game, he should have been in goal tonight.
No Montreal Return for Sidney Crosby
Despite rampant speculation earlier this week that Sidney Crosby would make his return to the ice tonight in Montreal against the Canadiens, it looks like fans will have to wait until AT LEAST Saturday when the Penguins host the Ottawa Senators in Pittsburgh. Sidney Crosby has been out of the lineup since January 18th when he left the ice against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a high...

It got cold! I had to turn the heat on last night. Very strange for April. Hope it's not too cold at the Sounds game tomorrow night.A bit of Predators news... Scott Hartnell is returning tonight. The Predators have reassigned Ramzi Abid to the Milwaukee Admirals in consequence. Meanwhile, the Ad...

Wild Edge Coyotes 3-2
The Minnesota Wild win their third game against the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2. The Coyotes successfully kept Marian Gaborik off the score sheet, but the other weapons for the Wild, Eric Belanger, Mark Parrish, and Brian Rolston all came through to score goals for their team. The problem with the three goal...
Penguins End Season 2 Games Short, Wings Lift 4th Cup in 11 Years
I can't say I was in much of hurry to get this recap posted, but I know I've got to get it done. So here it is.
First and foremost you have to give the Detroit Red Wings their incredibly deserved due. They were the best team in the regular season. They recovered from an early hiccup in the first round against the Nashville Predators and played solid in front of Osgood...
