TEAMS: Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings
After Saturday nights disappointing 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings in the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals, the Penguins faithful may be quick to recall the many instances in which the team has rebounded from dire straits. It was only a few months ago that the Penguins disappointing regular season performance had them outside the playoff race looking in. They proceeded to go 21-5-4 to finish off the season and hosted their first round match-up against inner-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers. They can do it again. Only a couple weeks ago they rallied from a two games to none deficit to eliminating Alexander Ovechkin and his Washington Capitals. They can comeback again. The Penguins are nothing if they are not resilient. But one thing the Penguins faithful cannot help but remember that is this time last year when they did not show up for the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals against the same Red Wings, and how big of a role it played in the Wings eventually dispatchi...

Malkin snap.
Check out the Penguins super star Malkin as he loses it at the end of game two, Malkin absolutely just snaps and loses his mind. Evgeni Malkin went after Henrik Zetterberg during a scrum in front of the Detroit net. The scrum started after Max Talbot game Osgood a little shot with his stick and Osgood acted as if the had been shot. This is what I told my buddy that I was watching...
Flyers Don't Know Whether To Cry Or Wind Their Watch
You would think the Philadelphia Flyers would have learned their lesson when playing the Pittsburgh Penguins: don't give Sidney Crosby any extra attention or he'll make you pay.
Stanley Cup finals: Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin avoids suspension for instigator penalty
The NHL announced late Saturday night it would not suspend Evgeni Malkin despite the fact the Pittsburgh Penguins forward received an instigator penalty in the waning seconds of Sunday's Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals.
Red Wings take first Cup game, 3-1
DETROIT | Chris Osgood has won the Stanley Cup three times, but he rarely is mentioned among the top goaltenders in the NHL. He moved one step closer to hoisting the Cup a fourth time - and maybe that much closer to the respect he deserves. Osgood made 31 saves Saturday night, and the Detroit Red Wings began this championship rematch the same way they did last year - with an impressive...
Penguins' Crosby clams up
HEARD THIS ONE?Silent SidSidney Crosby didn't want to talk about it. So there.Eyebrows were raised Monday when the Penguins star did not address the media and was nowhere to be found at the arena the day before Pittsburgh, down 2-0, plays a make-or-break game in the Stanley Cup finals.
Crosby Named Finalist For Messier Leadership Award
NEW YORK/TORONTO (June 2, 2009) – Boston’s Zdeno Chara, Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby and Calgary’s Jarome Iginla are the three finalists for the 2008-09 Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award presented by Bridgestone, the National...
Red Wings win opener
The Stanley Cup finals opener was full of flashbacks. Pittsburgh superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were slowed down and the Detroit Red Wings scored some fortunate goals.
No Datsyuk or Draper tonight for Red Wings
Craig Custance is reporting on Twitter that both Pavel Datsyuk and Kris Draper will not suit up for Detroit tonight.
Not overly surprising considering the quick 24 hr turnaround here. If these two players were not able to go last night, there probably wasn’t much chance they were going to be ready to go today. A [...]
Quotable: Mike Richards Is Ready for Vegas
In a stroke of marketing genius, the NHL has moved its annual awards ceremony from Toronto to Las Vegas. I don't have any problem with the city of Toronto, but a few years in Vegas is probably exactly what the NHL party needs. Also new this year... The awards will be open to the public (at a hefty ticket cost, but it still sounds worth it, with a player-attended afterparty included...
Broad Street Bulletin - Red Wings Take Game-1 With 3-1 Victory Over Penguins
The much anticipated re-match between the Penguins and Red Wings was far from a let down. With back-and-forth action, tons of scoring opportunities, and physical play, the game everything you could ask for. It was proof that a low scoring hockey game does not have to be boring. If you watched it, you know what I mean. If you missed it, don't worry; there is no off day between...
Red Wings 3, Penguins 1
It's "Go Time". Geno served notice at the end of the third period when he took exception to Zetterberg's two-handed punch to Talbot.I know the end result is the same as last year after two games, but this Pens team is ready to take the next step. They haven't backed down from Detroit one bit, and while the Wings have held serve, that's all they've done. No one has won the series...
PITTSBURGH MEDIA GOES DOWN THE WHINY ROAD
As a person who runs a blog, my views are slanted. I love my hometown teams and often root for them.I take umbrage against those who root against my teams and will often resort to immaturity to make fun of them. And that's because I run a blog. I don't answer to anybody. The media, well, that's a whole other story. I have no idea who Gene Collier of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is...
Red Wings Win Game One 3-1
Hockey is a fickle lady and quite often in close games this time of year a strange bounce or a bad break can be the difference between a win and a loss. Tonight the Penguins were victims of a couple of bad bounces that ultimately decided the winner. Having said that, it was only one game and the Pens strategy heading into the weekend should've been to win one of the first two in...
Pens-Wings, The Rematch
The rematch is a reality and I couldn't be more excited. If you are a hockey fan how could you not be amped up for the finals? You have the reigning cup champs and possibly the best run franchise in all of sports in the Detroit Red Wings and the star power of Crosby, Malkin and Fleury for the Penguins. Its the old guard versus the young stars for the second straight season. The story...
Red Wings beat Penguins in Game 1 of finals
Johan Franzen scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Chris Osgood made 31 saves.
