New York Rangers,
New York Islanders,
New Jersey Devils,
Pittsburgh Penguins,
Philadelphia Flyers and
Washington Capitals.Ten plus years later with one less team and a new name, the division (now known as the Atlantic) is one of the best in all of hockey. Last season, four of the five teams qualified for the playoffs, each accumulating over 90 points. The
Pittsburgh Penguins, the top team in the division, finished just two points behind the Eastern Conference leading
Montreal Canadiens advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals before losing to the
Detroit Red Wings in six games.
