Avery-brodeur
On Monday Senior Executive Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell made the league's position on this type of play clear and said any further conduct like this would be punishable by a two-minute minor penalty. In a new interpretation of Rule 75 the league issued this statement: "An unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty (Rule 75) will be interpreted and applied, effective immediately, to a situation when an offensive player positions himself facing the opposition goaltender and engages in actions such as waving his arms or stick in front of the goaltender's face, for the purpose of improperly interfering with and/or distracting the goaltender as opposed to positioning himself to try to make a play." Avery capped off the powerplay by scoring a goal. It was his third so far during the playoffs.
