Here we go again!
What a wild series this has turned out to be. The Capitals and Rangers; John Tortorella and the Caps fans are building quite a rivalry. In another impressive performance, the Caps whooped up on the Rangers for the second straight game and for the second year in a row have a chance to win a Game 7 on home ice to win their first playoff series in 11 years. 11 years.
They just have to win this game, right? Everyone says they will. That's why I'm so nervous. Everyone said they were going to win last year against the Flyers and we all know what happened. Sure, the Rangers seem worn down, but anything can happen in a Game 7.
The big question I have is what is wrong with the Rangers?? The entire franchise is whining and complaining about fan behavior, Donald Brashear nudging heavyweight Colton Orr in pregame and pretty much calling Shaone Morrisonn a vampire.
It is just wild. Brandon Dubinsky needed a tetanus shot because he said Morrisonn bit him in a shoving match? Morrisonn? A guy who I've never seen fight let alone commit a cheap shot?
Now speaking of cheap shots, Brashear's hit on Blair Betts was a cheap shot. He may have gotten him with a shoulder, but it was cheap because Betts wasn't looking and was headed off the ice on a line change. I fully expect Brash to be suspended for Game 7. I would be shocked if he wasn't. If that comes to pass, do we see Michael Nylander back in the lineup, or is Chris Clark ready to return?
But that shouldn't affect the game. If the Caps come out and play like they have the past 2 games, they should win. If they are able to score first, that would be huge, especially in front of what I expect to be a raucous crowd and it just might take the Rangers completely out of the game.
It's all in front of them now. The Capitals no longer have to win 3 games in a row. They just have to win 1. Anything can happen in one game and luck has been on the Capitals side the past 2 games. If that can last for 60 more minutes, then we just might have some hockey to play in May for the first time since 1998.

Stepping Up When it Counts the Most
In our eyes the biggest problem with the New York Rangers is that when
they have needed someone to step and provide the biggest of plays
nobody has.The good news for Ranger fans is that during this
playoff season we have gotten to watch Michael Del Zotto step up, we
have seen Evgeny Grachev step up and now we add Tysen Dowzak
to that list after he elevated his game like we have...

Tortorella Suspended For Potential Final Game
Well, you don’t see this every day. Brashear gets 6 games.
The NHL has made an example out of Washington Capitals goon Donald Brashear. I am actually shocked that they suspended him this long based on their past decisions. Tortorella Suspended for Game 6
For once, the NHL disciplinarians got it right. The league investigated Tortorella's confrontation with fans last night, and determined "that Mr. Tortorella squirted a fan with water before Mr. Tortorella was doused with a beverage."

For Capitals, Rangers, numbers don’t add up
From NHL.com
The numbers are so staggering that even Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom agrees this best-of-7 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal round series against the New York Rangers is just flat out, off the charts, mind-boggling bizarre.
“Kind of weird, yeah,” Backstrom said. “I don’t know what to say, it’s just weird.”

A Game 7 To Savor
Consecutive Aprils have presented HockeyWashington with postseason-opening showdowns with hated foes of yesteryear, consecutive three-to-one deficits battled back from, and consecutive game 7s deciding them. But these two most recent game 7s feel worlds apart, don't they? There's no such thing as a sure thing in any game 7, but has any engendered as universal a sense...
Tortorella suspended by the NHL.
It's fun to see the the drama that is the New York Rangers hockey team unfold. I would love to be a beat writer and follow this team because there is a lot of stuff going on with the New York Rangers. So the Rangers head coach John Tortorella will sit for game six. Of course the Rangers don't agree with the suspension but the NHL has been pretty clear with their instructions...
