After Hannu Toivonen didn't pick up the slack on his own, the Bruins front office decided to trade him to the St. Louis Blues for Center Carl Soderberg.
"Hannu was caught in between a little bit in what I call our succession plan, with Tuukka for the future and Manny and Tim (Thomas) in the present," Chiarelli said. "But Hannu is a good person. We felt he would be better suited to develop somewhere else. We felt the duo of Manny and Tim would be a highly competitive, experienced duo."
