Some Much-Needed Flyers Hockey...

I try not to complain about two things when I post about hockey on this site—"weak" penalties and the schedule. I try, but I fail. Miserably. Lately it seems like there's a week between brief spurts of action for the Flyers, two games around a weekend, off for three, four, five days. Coming off of the massive bender that is a 162-game Phillies season, followed by...

Flyers keep scoring high, win fifth straight game

Daniel Carcillo scored twice and Ray Emery made 28 saves to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to their fifth straight victory over the Buffalo Sabres, 5-2 on Friday.

Flyers keep up high-scoring pace third win in row

Canes sign Legace

As expected, the Hurricanes have signed a goaltender and it is veteran Manny Legace. Legace, who has 177 NHL victories, was playing for the Chicigo Wolves (AHL) after a preseason tryout with the Atlanta Thrashers. Legace was signed to a one-year, two-way contract.

Holmgren Updates van Riemsdyk, Tollefsen

Nightly Hockey Hits: All eyes on Yzerman, Lundqvist scrated while fighting a nagging injury, Leafs taking steps in right direction, Avery battle looms, top 10 most brutal NHL injuries of the last decade.

Oilers recall some players from Springfield; Paul Kariya taken off the Blues PP; Bray May see's things differently now; Senators schedule about to get tough; Caps put Nylander on waivers; Stamkos vs. Lecalvier for Team Canada. These stories and a tribute to Steve Yzerman after the jump.

Best guess: Canes could turn to Legace

So what's the Canes' next move? Cam Ward will be out at least three to four weeks, general manager Jim Rutherford says, so a goaltending decision must be made. The best guess here is that the Hurricanes will sign a goaltender and that it will be Manny Legace. He's 36, he's experienced and he played well against the Canes in a preseason exhibition game during...

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 11-7-09 vs. Blues

PREVIEW (10:30 AM) On the heels of a gutty 5-2 win last night in Buffalo, the Flyers (8-4-1) begin a four-game homestand tonight when they take on the St. Louis Blues (5-6-2) at the Wachovia Center. The Flyers need to avoid a letdown tonight. They've played three straight solid games, while St. Louis has been inconsistent of late. Philly played a strong game five-on-five...

Blues suffering from bad European hangover

The Chevy Chase vehicle "European Vacation" was a mediocre follow-up to the first National Lampoon "Vacation" comedy. The St. Louis Blues should know something about that.

Eklund: JvR to USA(e4), Canucks Forsberg Getting Close, Sharp to Thrash (e3), Biron

Heading down to the Blures/Flyers this evening. Looking forward to seeing a team in the Blues that it feels like I never get to see. If you are a Flyers fan going tonight definitely watch for David Backes, who while he has struggled mightily this season is one of the future stars that this team is filled with. I really got to see this kids brilliance at the USA Olympic Camp...
