With everything the Flyers are dealing with regarding injuries this team just keeps coming out and fighting until the end. They played much better in the 2nd game considering it came down to the 3rd period being 2-2 and then the turnover came along. This was basically a 3-2 hockey game at the end. I hate counting open net goals. I am confident the city of brotherly love will get behind this team at home and show these guys just how much we love them. Nothing like having the extra players from your hometown fans!

With the Flyers already down their best defenseman in Kimmo Timonen, they got what they could ill afford early on; an injury to another defenseman. Braydon Coburn, Timonen's defensive partner, went down early in the period when he was hit in the face with a puck that deflected off the stick of Evgeni Malkin. Then the Flyers went on to lose the game, albeit in a better effort than their game 1 performance.

They're not toast yet, but they're close. If they can't get better shots on, and break out better, it will be really difficult for them to make a comeback.

Braydon Coburn out for Game Three
The Flyers playoff hopes continue to dim today. After losing to the Penguins yesterday to fall into a 2-0 hole in the series, the Flyers learned today that they will play Game 3 without defenseman Braydon Coburn. Coburn took a puck to the face in the first period of Game 2 and had to leave the game. He got 50 stitches on his face around his left eye and lost a lot of blood, making...
Braydon Coburn Doubtful For Game 3
After suffering a facial injury as a result of being struck by a puck, Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn is currently listed as doubtful for tomorrow night's pivotal game 3 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Accoring to Flyers GM Paul Holmgren,
"We're still waiting to hear word on how his eye actually is. Right now, it's swollen shut, there are no fractures and he...
Flyers lose 4-2 to Penguins.....again
The Flyers lost Game Two by the same score as they lost Game One, 4-2, but Sunday's contest was a completely different story in terms of effort. In Game One, the Flyers looked flat-footed and played most of the game back on their heels, while in Game Two they showed more of the effort and intensity that we have grown accustomed to seeing in this playoff run. The Flyers simply...
Flyers Down 0-2; Whose Fault is it?
In any playoff series , in any sport, when a team is down 0-2 the blame game starts with one person and ends with another. The Flyers situation is no different. Down 0-2 and headed home. They played badly game one, maybe even giving the game away to the Pens. Not taking anything away front what the Penguins do but the Flyers truly beat themselves in game 1. In game 2 the Flyers put...
Flyers lose another Game One
The Flyers simply don't like to win the first game of a series. For the third time in a row, the Flyers lost a Game One, this time in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-2. Philly had previously dropped the first games in the Captials and Canadiens series and we all know how those turned out, so there is no reason to think the season is over.
But, if...
Penguins Beat Flyers Again, Lead Series 2-0
After Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, many said it was the worst game the Flyers played so far in the playoffs. Many of the players agreed with that assessment. For the Flyers to take game 2 they could not get caught standing still and letting the likes of Evgeni Malkin, Marian Hossa, and Sidney Crosby skate freely in the their end of the ice. They had to stay out of the...

Philadelphia: A City in Need of Hope
Philadelphia is a city on edge.
Not more than two weeks ago, a Philadelphia Police Officer was gunned down while trying to serve his city. Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski was responding to a robbery call at a bank and was murdered by a trio of armed men. He was killed by an automatic weapon, just days before his 40th birthday.
Two days after the murder of one of the city's...
Penguins Notes leading up to Game Two
After watching a lot of Game One again plus reading a bunch of commentary, some tidbits as we wait until Sunday night's Game Two:
Talbot lifts Penguins over Flyers again, 4-2
The Philadelphia Flyers said they'd come out harder and more physical. They said they'd play a better defensive game than they did in Game One.
They did just that, it was a much better performance all around for the Flyers. The problem is, it still didn't propel them to a win.
Penguins/Flyers notes leading up to Game Three
This is the season for the Flyers, no other way to put it. Either they win Game Three, or start planning your golf vacations.
