The Broad Street Blog:
Following the Flyers' fourth goal in Saturday's game 2, Montreal's Tom Kostopoulos landed a sucker punch on Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen. It has been classified by many as cheap, gutless, and cowardly. Of course, Guy Carbonneau isn't calling the hit that. He went as far as to say that Timonen deserved the hit because in his opinion the Flyers were taunting the Canadiens after the goal.

but hey, lets remember, even after the fans in Montreal throwing beer in the Penalty Box, and blazing up a few cop cars, somehow someone will bring up the fact that we Boo'ed the hell out of Santa Clause...

how bout those "classy" fans in Washington throwing stuff at Jeff Carter after game 7? Heard zero about that. It's our rep, but we all have to admit we love it.

I'm so sick of Montreal already. It's like we have to play against the entire league here. At least the Flyers are proving you can only make so many favorable calls to try and help a team, they'll still come short.

Biron leads Flyers to 2-1 series advantage
It's the oldest hockey adage there is: hot goaltending wins in the playoffs. The Flyers got another amazing game from goaltender Martin Biron to help them to a 3-2 win over the Canadiens in Game 3 of their playoff series. The win gives the Flyers a 2-1 edge in the series.
Biron was on all night, and he needed to be to bail the Flyers out. The Canadiens out-shot the Flyers...

Martin Biron In The Spotlight
Coming into this year's Stanley Cup playoffs, Martin Biron was an unproven quantity when it came to playoff hockey. At 30 years of age, he had never played in an NHL playoff game. Since the playoffs have started Biron has played spectacular in net and is the cornerstone behind the Flyers push through the postseason. So far he has a 6-4 record and 1 shutout to his credit. Today...
Marty Biron Steals Game 3 For Flyers, Knuble Could Return for Game 4
All the while in Montreal, the Flyers were feeling out their opponent and left Canada with the thought that they finally had a good understanding of their opponent. The Flyer with the best idea of how the Habs play is clearly goaltender Marty Biron. Clearly the best player of the entire playoffs thus far, Marty Biron, and Biron only was the reason the Flyers won game 3 and gained...
Flyers Up 2-1; Montreal in Real Trouble?
After Monday nights 3-2 win over the Habs I really believe now that the Flyers will be headed to the Eastern Conference Finals. If your Montreal right now you've got to be feeling pretty lucky your not down 3-0 on the verge of being swept. I'm not saying Montreal hasn't played well, but some of their positive play has been the result of a break in their favor. Breaks...
Umby Scores Twice, Biron Stands on Head as Flyers Even Series
The Flyers' post-season slogan has been "Vengeance NOW". Obviously in reference to last year's atrocious season, the slogan held particularly true in game 2 against the Montreal Canadiens. In game 1 the Flyers had to battle not only the Habs, but the officials who granted Alex Kovalev a goal that he knocked in from what appeared to be above the crossbar, and were...
Flyers Take Down Canadiens, Take Series Lead
Just like playoff series between these two teams in the past, the tension and intensity are beginning to increase. Tom Kostopoulos' sucker punch on Kimmo Timonen at the end of game 2 and Guy Carbonneau's comments regarding it just added to it.
Martin Biron resumed his stellar playoff play with several key saves throughout the game. Biron continues to be the cornerstone...
Thanks to Martin Biron, Flyers even up series
This time the Flyers made sure the referees couldn't affect the outcome of the game. The Flyers once again jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but this time they never let the Canadiens come back, winning the game by a score of 4-2.
Martin Biron was the story of this game, playing his best game of the playoffs. He made a number of spectacular saves that left the Canadiens forwards frustrated...
