I'm confused - Are the Sens trying to be Greek?

So, being the hockey buff that I am, I'm fully aware that the Ottawa Senators are attempting to rip off a Roman Senator motif, but…during their intro during Game 3 of their playoff series…they attempted a horrid impersonation of the movie 300.

Now, that would be awesome…if 300 wasn't basted on Greek's…not Roman's….
